About this ebook

New York Times bestselling author Kate White returns with a gripping story about a true-crime reporter uncovering the secrets that lie beneath the surface of a placid small town, perfect for readers of Jessica Knoll, Alafair Burke, and Liv Constantine.

Blonde. Beautiful. A loving mother. And missing since Monday.

On a sunny morning in late September, Shannon Blaine sets off for a jog along the rural roads near her home in Lake George, New York.  It’s her usual a.m. routine, her “me time” after dropping the kids off at school…except on this day she never returns.

Is her husband lying when he says he has no clue where she is? Could Shannon have split on her own, overwhelmed by the pressures of her life? Or is she the victim of a sexual predator who had been prowling the area and snatched her before she knew what was happening.

True crime writer Bailey Weggins, on assignment for the website Crime Beat, heads north from New York City to report on the mysterious disappearance. An anonymous tip soon leads Bailey to a grisly, bone-chilling discovery. Every town has its secrets, Bailey reminds herself, and nothing is ever as perfect as it seems. She keeps digging for answers until—when it’s almost too late—she unearths the terrifying truth.

This was the first time that I read a book from the Bailey Weggins mystery series and I will definitely be reading more! This was a very enjoyable murder mystery that kept me guessing throughout the entire story. The story is set in Lake George - when a young mother is murdered there is a contingent of reporters that converge on the case. Bailey, a reporter, is provided a tip by the murderer and then she discovers the body thus inserting herself into the story of a possible religious serial killer. Bailey is a strong character that I enjoyed reading about. She has a mind of her own but that can sometimes lead to trouble. She is inquisitive and uses every resource to find her scoop. As she gets deeper into the mystery, she uncovers many disturbing facts. Without giving away more of the plot, I will just say I would definitely recommend this book for fans of thrillers!Reader received a complimentary copy from Library Thing Early Reviewers.

This book is part of a series, which I did not know prior to picking up this novel. I don’t think you need to have read the other books, as this seemed to stand alone. When a beautiful woman goes missing after her morning run, a search is instituted. Bailey Weggins is assigned to cover the case for an online publication. She has a style of journalism which gets people to talk to her. From the title, I suspected that the husband would be the suspect in this book, but he seems to have an alibi. Bailey teams up with another reporter, and they make a gruesome discovery. When something happens to the other reporter, Bailey is able to solve the case.Enjoyable, but not fabulous.#SuchAPerfectWife #KateWhite

Bailey Weggins, investigative reporter is back, this time working in her favorite genre, true crime. Bailey works for an online site called Crime Beat, and she is sent to upstate New York after a woman disappears while jogging. The search and rescue part of the operation is still underway when she checks into a local motel and arrives at the local ice cream shop which is serving as headquarters. On the surface, the Blaines seem like nice folks, and no one can understand what has happened to Shannon. I like how Bailey finds it so easy to slip into the local area and even befriends another long time local reporter. When the two make an unsettling discovery, the book veers from possible serial killer to sexual predator to domestic, all kinds of red herrings lead to an interesting ending.

Overall I enjoyed reading this next installment of Bailey Weggins. There was just the right amount of danger and intrigue. I admire Bailey’s nosiness and overall curiosity. I felt that the plot was a little contrived and could of been fleshed out more.

Such a Perfect Wife overall was a good mystery to pass the time. While reading it, I felt that it was like a cozy mystery, but less cheesy. A lot of the story is spent on the reporter, Bailey Weggins, recapping what she's figured out and who the suspects are. Outside of these parts, the book was really interesting and page turning - during the recapping, it was a little boring. There were plenty of suspects, some obvious and some not. Baily, the reporter, was very likable. I didn't realize when I started reading, that this is book #8 in a series that follows her. I didn't feel like I was missing any back story because of this, and I actually am curious about her story before this book and what may come next for Bailey.

Received from Librarything. I grew pretty impatient with the story and skim read til the end. Meh.

Bailey Weggins is a reporter for an online crime journal. She's sent to Lake George, NY, to report on the disappearance of a young housewife. She's thrust into the midst of the case when someone makes an anonymous call to her that leads to a gruesome discovery. Is she now in a killer's sights? This is apparently the 8th book in a series, but it read just fine as a stand-alone novel. It was not outstanding, but it was a decent read. The advance reader’s edition of this book was provided by the publisher via LT Early Reviewers in exchange for a review.

A young mother goes out for her morning run and fails to return. Bailey Wiggins, a reporter, comes to investigate. This is the first Bailey Wiggins mystery I have read, but it probably won’t be my last. The plot was fast paced with many clues and suspects. It took most of the book before I knew who did it. Good book!

Bailey is sent to Lake George, NY by her new boss to cover a missing person report. Then Bailey & another journalist find the woman dead in a storage closet. Then the other journalist is murdered. Is Bailey next? Lots of twists and turns.
