40 Illustrative Prayers - Sipho Herold Mtsweni

    Inspired by:

The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it, for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters. ~ Psalm 24:1

"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being. ~ Revelations 4:11

All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. ~ John 1:3

For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also his offspring. ~ Acts 17:28

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. ~ Colossians 3:23

    Preface

The workbook on illustrative prayers is based on the prayers made on the booklet BEING. The workbook seeks to teach an individual or groups how to pray using the illustrations depicted on the booklet BEING.

    Context of the BEING booklet:

Generally, BEING is defined as self, existence, life, individual, mortal, essence, creature and person or personality.

Irrespective of how I may look at it, I am totally empty, useless and nothing without God. In my desperation for God, I discovered that:

Beloved Enjoy Intimacy with God in this manner:

 Believers are empowered (Phil. 2:13) as instruments of God’s righteousness (Romans 6:13)

 Believers are equipped (2 Tim. 3:16-17) to imitate God (Eph. 5:1)

 Believers are established (Deut. 28:9) in God (1 Cor. 1:30)

 Believers are exalted at His right hand (Acts 2:34-35), in the image and glory of God (1 Cor. 11:6; Gen. 1:27)

The prayers made here were inspired by Him in whom we live, and move, and have our being, with the knowledge that, whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as if working for the Lord, not for men. The understanding of these prayers comes from the meaning of the symbols in the universe; i.e. an ant is industrious, and, therefore, the prayer will be to ask the Lord for such prudent habits exhibited by the ant, which helps us to understand our role better with fellow humans and with God.

The prayers were made to help fellow labourers in Christ to realise the following, as instruments of God’s peace:

Where there is hatred, to sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.

Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.
