Outrage and Hope - Solange Lebovitz

    Biography

    July 24th, 2004

We live in a perpetual motion,

    The here and now,

    The there and tomorrow,

    Trying to do everything

    With limited resources.

    Forgetting, just for an instant

    The depressing state of affairs

    Of our civilization,

    We must admit that imposing

    And startling constructions

    Rising from the legacy

    Of slave workers,

    Mark the passing of centuries

    With ingenuity and perseverance

    Despite the deplorable conditions.

    Man is imbued with optimism

    To refuse the status quo

    Leading to decay,

    He must persist to live

    And do his part

    In the scheme of things

    Before he can rest

    In the inevitable slumber.

    November 15th, 2002

    Have you seen the devil?

    He leads his cohorts

    Of rapacious,

    Thwarted mind adherents

    Throughout the earth

    Pausing here and there

    To create havoc

    And rampage

    Leaving a trail of hatred

    And murder,

    Rejoicing in the completion

    Of his evil deeds.

    Can anyone stop him,

    Or is it more profitable

    To join him.

    Unabashed, remorselessly

    Steeped into the hysterical frenzy

    Of unchecked violence

    And slaughter,

    The disciples of the devil

    Relish with fervor

    Dipping their hands

    Into the blood

    Of their enemies.

    Aping the appearance of men,

    They are the monstrous beasts

    Of humanity soon to disappear.

    2001

    A new day,

    What happened to the smoke

    Of the gas chambers

    Hovering thick,

    A black wall of clouds

    Melting into the sea.

    Patches of dark

    And bloody red smoke

    In a gray background

    Seem to stay still

    Auguring strange happenings,

    But very slowly dissolve

    Into lighter shades

    Pale gold like flames,

    Rosy, then white

    In a pale blue sky

    As the sun
