This chapter lays the foundation for the study of anatomy by considering some important aspects –what does this science encompass? What methods are used to study anatomy? How did our understanding of human anatomy develop? What aspects of human anatomy differentiate us from other animals and define us as humans? How did the human body come to be as it is?
Introduction
The human body is everything that makes the study of the human anatomy. The human body is considered to be an entire structure of the human being. The human body is composed of different types of cells. The cells make up the tissues which subsequently result in the vital organ systems. The various body organs are responsible for ensuring the viability along with the homeostasis of the entire human body. The human body consists of the major body parts like the head, trunk, neck, hands, arms, thighs and legs.
The overall study of the human body involves the study of anatomy, physiology, embryology, and histology. The human body tends to vary anatomically in various known ways. The science of physiology is aimed at the study of the organs and the systems of the human body along with their specific functions. Several mechanisms and systems interact with each other for maintaining the homeostasis along with the balanced levels of the vital elements like sugar as well as oxygen in the blood flow.
