Your self-esteem affects every single area of your life, from your personal relationships to your professional success. If you are lacking in self-esteem, you will face a lot of struggles in your life.
The good news is that you can improve your self-esteem! How? Simply by following a few steps which you will learn in this book.
Many people fear that they can never change the way they feel about themselves, and they simply accept their lack of self-esteem. You, however, do not have to be that person. This book is going to help you. I’ll begin by teaching you exactly what self-esteem is and what creates self-esteem.
Next, we will move on to learning how to build your self-esteem and create the life that you want to live. No longer would you have to wake up wondering what the day will hold for you or how you are supposed to feel throughout the day. You can now take control of your life, by following the information in this book.
Hopefully, this book will have the answers to all your questions, and help you become the best version of yourself.
Chapter 1- What is Low Self-Esteem?
Self-esteem is simply how you feel about yourself.
When a person suffers from low self-esteem, they do not feel good about who they are, where they are in their life, and what they have achieved. This can become evident in many different ways. You can start by asking yourself, how much do you like yourself. If you answer this question honestly, you will be able to determine if you suffer from low self-esteem, or not.
As I have stated before, there are many ways that low self-esteem can make itself evident in a person’s life. I want to begin this chapter by talking about how you can tell if you are suffering from low self-esteem, as well as how critical your situation is.
The first sign of low self-esteem that I want to talk about is self-sabotage. This happens when a person has a plan, knows what they need to get done, but sabotages their efforts on their own. You may be sitting there looking at the words on this page and thinking that there is no way that you would sabotage your own efforts, but I want you to take a really good look at your life.
Have you ever had the chance to do something, only to spoil your own plans in the middle? Let’s say, you want to lose weight, and you find yourself sabotaging your own efforts. How? When you know you should eat healthy, you find yourself maybe making extremely rich, fatty meals for dinner or purchasing a bunch of chocolates for yourself. Maybe you aren’t even eating these chocolates, chips and cookies that you’ve somehow allowing them to sit in your cabinets and taunt you? You might just get tired of eating healthy one day and binge on unhealthy food, undoing months of good habit. This is definitely something you didn’t need to do, but did it anyway because you didn’t have enough confidence in yourself.
Maybe you have had the chance to get everything in your life in order, but instead, allowed yourself to get caught up in a television show instead of taking action. Maybe a company you really wanted to work with was hiring, but instead of applying for a job, you simply hung back, literally sabotaging your entire life.
When you lack self-esteem, you sabotage yourself. You sabotage your chances of success in life, because you are trying to tell yourself you can’t be successful, that you are not worth it. Subconsciously, you will sabotage the area of your life that you feel the least deserving of, for example, your relationships or your finances.
