What Is Cover Creator?
Kinda My Fault
At the 2109 Novelists, Inc. (NINC) conference in St. Pete Beach, Florida, I went to a panel on Book Brush, in my job as Marketing Troll for Knotted Road Press, Inc. (KRP). I had been learning about how to do better ads, and this was a graphical tool designed to make it easy for the average writer to do pretty ads all by themselves.
Book Brush was a revelation.
As an example, Corey was fifteen minutes into his presentation when somebody in the back of the room interrupted and asked if Corey was going to have a coupon code for buyers at NINC, because that guy was already sold on the product, and was currently on the webpage to purchase, with credit card in hand.
Yeah, like that.
After the presentation, I walked up to Corey and introduced myself, asking if they had anything that would make it easy for them to do book covers, which are a different size and need from ads. Because I always have them in hand, I gave him one of my business cards with Auberon’s cover on the front and the blurb on the back. He told me that they didn’t have anything like that, but said that it sounded interesting.
Okay, no problem.
About a week later I got an email from Corey asking if I was interested in consulting with them to do a Cover Brush
kind of tool, once he and his partners had a chance to think about it and realized that they were leaving money on the table. How many of you pay expensive cover artists dearly for your covers? (I cheated, and married Fabulous Publisher Babe™ so I get fantastic covers.)
Corey set me up with an account and I started working with the tool as it existed then. In 2020, my goal was to start direct-selling ebook
