    Though only a short train ride north of New York City, Hudson Hollow feels like it’s in another world.     The most mysterious creatures of all are the Shapeshifters, who lived in and around the Riverview Hotel beginning in Victorian times, when the hotel was still Lady Agatha’s summer mansion. The only known surviving Shapeshifter is Jake, the hotel’s ruggedly handsome driver and handyman.
    Shapeshifters are like the psychologists of the paranormal world. Jake has the power to probe deeply into the subconscious minds of the hotel’s guests, where he uncovers their most urgent and hidden desires. He then changes his shape to become whatever or whoever they need to finally get those long-buried desires fulfilled. When guests come to the Riverview Hotel and encounter Jake, their lives will never be the same again.
    When Lady Agatha was a child, she was sure she knew her destiny. She would be a great opera singer, fall in love, and live happily ever after. Alas, her hopes were dashed when she married a cold and cruel railroad tycoon. Jake, a gardener and handyman at Agatha’s summer estate, seethed with anger when he saw evidence of her husband’s mistreatment. But there was nothing he could do — until fate took a few twists and turns, aided by the supernatural creatures that inhabited the magical land of Riverview.
