I HAVE cooked for countless shoots and stalking parties at which guests stagger into the kitchen after a hearty breakfast, time running out before the gamekeeper’s and gillie’s patience expires, exclaiming that they couldn’t possible think about lunch just now. Then they see a giant glazed roast ham and somehow perk up.
I love laying out a table groaning with goodies for guests to choose their pieces for the hill from. All the food has to be easily eaten without cutlery and the right size to slip into a large pocket as well as survive
