About this ebook
“Winsome and warmhearted, these books could become instant favorites.”—Publishers Weekly
Mr. Putter knows what he likes, and dancing is not on the list. But his neighbor Mrs. Teaberry has been watching ballroom dancing on TV.
She talks the reluctant Mr. Putter into coming along for an evening at the Crystal Ballroom, along with fine cat Tabby and good dog Zeke, of course. The ballroom is full of sparkles—and surprises…
“Written with simplicity and understated humor…The young audience will enjoy seeing these familiar characters express themselves on and off the dance floor.”—Booklist

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Mr. Putter is not thrilled when Mrs. Teaberry invites him and Tabby to go ballroom dancing with her and Zeke, but he decides to join her anyway because she is his friend and thinks he is a wonder. He is nervous to start dancing when they arrive at the Crystal Ballroom, but lucky for him, no one notices his two left feet because they are all too busy watching Zeke the dog dance the tango. Through Mr. Putter's experience, readers will learn that it can be worth it to try things even if they think they won't enjoy them, as Mr. Putter walks away from the Crystal Ballroom having enjoyed the night. This upper-level easy reader makes use of a combination of very simple and more complex language to help transition the reader. It also makes use of a simple three- chapter structure, introducing new readers to chapters and celebrating their increasing literacy skills.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Dang. I love this series, but this episode fell flat for me. I guess I want a bit of an actual story, a little dramatic tension. It was just too easy for everyone to just go to the ballroom and have a good time. And I truly cannot dance and cannot fake it and cannot see bringing pets to a ballroom.
