    FamilySearch and the Society of Genealogists form partnership to digitise histories of UK families

    The Society of Genealogists (SoG) is teaming up with FamilySearch ), the free family history site, to digitise UK family histories. Over the next two years the organisations will digitise 9,000 family history books and more than 5,000 genealogy pamphlets, offprints and unpublished tracts from SoG’s library. FamilySearch will provide equipment and personnel, working in the society’s Upper Library with SoG volunteers and cataloguers. SoG will have exclusive use of the scans for an agreed period, making them accessible in the society’s library and on its website where they are out of copyright.
