Über den Autor

Rosemary has been an international Buddhist meditation teacher since 1987. She was a resident teacher at a meditation center in Thailand for 25 years, teaching over 8,000 students from more than 85 countries. She currently lives in Australia, and continues teaching at various centers worldwide.She and her husband, Steve, have authored many books, with several translated. If we can learn how to deal with our reactions to life's situations, we will be well on our way towards solving difficulties, and creating more peace, contentment and happiness.

Suppose you have a fire burning in the fireplace. If you observe the fire long enough without feeding it, what happens to the fire? It burns low and goes out by itself. You are left with a deeper understanding of the nature of fire. Fire burns from fuel. Not fed, it goes out.

In many ways to be normal in the eyes of the world means to limit ourselves.

Compassion and Lovingkindness are essential in our practice. They are deep motivating forces to try to heal difficulties wherever we see them - in ourselves and, if possible, to help heal them in others. But we also need Wisdom - otherwise we will not know the true cause of difficulties or how to heal them.

Meditation and Mental Development help to give us a glimpse into the possibilities of our life. It is the possibility of living connected to an inner purpose which can give joy and energy instead of a feeling of futility.

If we are to find out who and what we are, we have to be able to look closely, to try to make our awareness as continuous as possible.

The questions we ask ourselves and others are very important. They can mean the difference between stimulating our Inner Wisdom or increasing our ignorance.

Actually, no matter what posture you take, no matter how soft or comfortable the pillows or chairs or beds are, if you try to stay still for a certain amount of time, then unpleasant physical sensations will automatically arise in parts of your body.

Much of meditation/mental development practice is to learn when certain actions are appropriate and beneficial, and when they are not appropriate and beneficial.

How can I make my Generosity stronger?

Try to see that attachment causes the stress and suffering in the mind, and that the experience and awareness of the experience are different - not the same.

We need to open to see the results of the forces of conditioning in our mind - to open to the difficulties some of this creates for ourselves. With compassionate understanding we can transform ourselves and grow.

How important do our worry themes and dreams seem when faced with the possibility of death in the next moment, hour or day?

We are who we are due to what we did in the past. We can change who we will be by what we do in the present.

Clear Comprehension, understanding the suitability of actions, speech and thoughts, protects us from present or future difficulties and sorrow.

Has it ever happened to you that you bought something thinking it was one thing and later discovered it was not what you thought it was? How often are your perceptions, views and opinions about things not correct?
