About this ebook
After the war was won, the government had no need for the Enhanced. So they split them up - some stayed in the military while the others went to special zoos and circuses to entertain the citizens of Opani. This angered the Enhanced but nobody dared fight back. Each place the Enhanced were kept had intense security and severe punishments for acting out. That is until one day, years after the war, a small group calling themselves the Wings of Freedom decided enough was enough. That the Enhanced deserved rights just like any other citizen. And they will be the ones to fight for these rights.

Prologue
‘This just in - scientists in North Weststrand have succeeded in creating the world’s first - but not last - genetically enhanced individual they’re calling an Enhanced. Our sources say that they plan to make these for the government to be used in the war against Likon shortly after they are trained. We will keep you updated as we get more information. Back to you, Victor.’
People were talking about this broadcast months after it aired. When the first bunch of Enhanced was ready for battle, a second broadcast aired showing them going off to battle. This caused a lot of controversy. People didn’t know if using this new breed of humans was ethical or not. Yes, Likon was using questionable tactics in this war but that doesn’t mean that Opani should do the same. Some people argued that Opani should, though. This caused quite an outrage on the internet.
A couple months after the first of the Enhanced were deployed, footage of their fighting surfaced on social media. There wasn’t one social media platform that didn’t have this debate trending. The opinions of citizens ranged from heavily supporting the government to people protesting in front of government buildings, fighting for equal rights for the Enhanced. The only group that didn’t have a say in this debate were the Enhanced themselves; they had to fight or else be executed along with their families.
They are people, just like us, and deserve to be treated as such! Let the Enhanced have rights,
claimed the pro-rights groups.
They were created in a lab,
the other side countered. "They are monsters and should replace all Opani soldiers so that normal people don’t have to die at the hands of Likon soldiers."
No matter what side someone is on, everyone around them had different opinions. One person could think the Enhanced were monsters but also still advocate for them to have basic human rights. Another could support their equal rights but still think they were nothing more than soldiers. Tension was high among Opani citizens, and it was time the government intervened.
After months of internet rants, protests, and even boycotts, the government finally stepped in to settle this argument once and for all by posting an official statement on every major news network in the nation. They had the President appear in a short video that stated how the government was treating the Enhanced.
‘Greetings citizens of Opani. I know many of you are concerned about the treatment of the Enhanced soldiers. I want to assure you, they are given basic human rights and are treated similarly to the rest of our brave troops out on the front lines. The government takes the treatment of Enhanced soldiers very seriously. There is no need to worry about how they are being treated overseas. In fact, they are dedicated to defending our great nation and are proud of the progress they have helped us make in this war. Thank you all for your patience and understanding; that will be all for now.’
This announcement calmed the citizens down. There were still debates, but none that made the headlines. When the war ended, though, the debate started up again about what should be done with the Enhanced. Once again the Enhanced didn’t have much to say; they were given a few options to choose from, including staying in the military. Those that choose to end their time in the service were directed to various locations across the nation. Some were sent to Enhanced zoos while others were sent to circuses. None were allowed to be part of the general public, though. This caused a huge outrage among citizens; some even broke into these places in an attempt to free the Enhanced. Soon people realized that the Enhanced were heavily guarded, and eventually the public stopped trying to free them and accepted the fact that they would forever be the government’s ‘property.’ The question to be answered now is if the Enhanced will ever be free, or always be considered property.
Chapter 1
Banging on a chain link fence was a sound the Enhanced inside Carter Zoo were used to. People came from far and wide to see the Enhanced kept there. For they showed the power of the government. They were the heroes of the war with Likon. Which was what people loved to see - war heroes. In the middle of the zoo resided one of the place’s most visited Enhanced. He had the biggest cage out of everyone and that was because of what he could do. People came from far and wide to see him - the face of the zoo.
The Enhanced kept in the middle of the zoo huffed when he saw people looking into his cage. Knowing he had to entertain them, he came out of his small cave and stretched, his muscles rippling from underneath his snake skin pants that he always wore; the pants were seemingly a part of him but loose enough as to be family friendly. Seeing a pile of fresh meat in one corner, he licked his lips before narrowing his eyes. The Enhanced even smirked. These people came here for a show. So a show he will give them.
First to change were his bright, ice blue eyes. They went from a human’s round pupil to a tiger’s slitted one. They also moved to fit the wide frame of his new face. Then his ash grew hair covered the rest of his body. After that came the bone snapping process of changing his body to be that of a tiger’s. He fell to all fours as his spine grew and stretched to end in a long tail. His hands grew bigger and wider and his nails extended into long, razor sharp claws, thumbs moving up his arms in the place a feline’s thumb lie. His former dull teeth sharpened into long, sharp fangs coming from his now wide mouth. Once the process was done, he looked like a gray and black tiger.
The audience that had gathered to witness the Enhanced’s transformation erupted into applause once his shift was complete, some even cheered. The caged tiger was relieved they were entertained and jumped up onto the large rock at the front of the cage. He then took a deep breath before letting out a loud roar. Yes, it did wake up the other caged Enhanced people but he didn’t care. All he cared about was having enough food in his cage. The others being held at the zoo didn’t matter to him.
The crowd’s cheering increased by tenfold. They loved his flair and how much he interacted with them. This was why he was the face of the zoo and this was why he had as big of a cage as he did - not just because of his abilities, but also because of how much people liked him. The Enhanced looked around as the crowd dispersed to see the other Enhanced at the zoo. He then huffed before turning away from the zoo’s front gates and stalking towards the heaping pile of meat at the corner of his cage. Because of his abilities, he needed to eat at least a half a ton of meat a day. The abilities that he had made him an excellent fighter but also a crowd favorite. The government loved him for both of those sides of him.
Once done with his food, the Enhanced walked around the cage, rubbing
