INTRODUCTION
Thanks for picking up this book!
When we became allergists and immunologists, we were fascinated by what we were treating every day. Patients reported reactions to the strangest things like water, cold air, and even the sun. We have seen people struggling with symptoms for years without a clear cause, because who would think you could be allergic to yourself?
Fortunately, in the last 100 years, the medical community has learned so much more about what could cause an allergic reaction. Though the crazy ones are rare, they are still very real. We want you to know some of the uncommon things that people can be allergic to. All the names in our stories are fictional, but their allergic reactions are not. After reading this book, we hope you understand a little more about the allergy world. You may even have some interesting topics to discuss at your next party!
