About this ebook

The moment I met my sister's best friend Madison Baker, we immediately take a dislike to each other. She always thinks she's right, and worse, she usually is. We spend our four years at the academy torturing each other.

Years later, she's out of the Marines thanks to a roadside bomb. If you think that means she's fragile, you would be wrong. She's stronger than anyone I know, and we still drive each other crazy, and when one of our arguments ends up in a blazing hot kiss, and then we can't seem to keep our hands off each other.

When she tells me she's seen a murder, and no one else believes her, I stand up for her, because this is Madison–she's always right. Together, we sift through the meager evidence, trying to unearth the secrets someone is trying to hide. Neither one of us expected that it would draw us closer—or that a killer is hell bent on making sure those secrets stay buried.

Author

Melissa Schroeder

From an early age, USA Today Bestselling author Melissa loved to read. First, it was the books her mother read to her including her two favorites, Winnie the Pooh and the Beatrix Potter books. She cut her preteen teeth on Trixie Belden and read and reviewed To Kill a Mockingbird in middle school. It wasn’t until she was in college that she tried to write her first stories, which were full of angst and pain, and really not that fun to read or write. After trying several different genres, she found romance in a Linda Howard book. Since her first published book, Grace Under Pressure, Mel has had over 60 short stories, novellas, and novels published. She has written in genres ranging from historical to contemporary to futuristic and has worked with 8 publishers although she handles most of her publishing herself. She is best known for her Harmless and Santini series. After years of following her military husband around the country and world, Mel happily lives with her family in horse and wine country in Northern Virginia.

3.5 StarsI am so excited to read more about this incredibly devoted family. It really helps that they're all military men and women. And to think there's a whole mess of cousins. Having this book deal with not only love, but a growing problem with the number of people, both military and civilian, living with PTSD was an excellent choice for the opening book in the cousins saga. Loved every bit of it. Though it was shorter than the average books I read I didn't feel as if it was rushed. Having the two MCs already having an established relationship helped move their story along at a great place. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
