here are dozens of herbs that are said to have anticancer properties, but clinical studies on their effectiveness is limited. Speak to your physician if you are thinking of adding herbs to your daily intake to treat or prevent cancer; this is especially important if you are on medication for any condition. Herbs have a powerful impact on, and interaction with, prescription medications. Saffron Saffron is probably better known as a spice than as a medicinal herb, but it has been found to have anticancer properties. A report from Experimental Biology And Medicine states that saffron has the ability to prevent the development of, and slow the growth of, cancerous cells and tumors. When applied topically, saffron is able to help prevent the development of skin cancers. Prostate Cancer Treatment Groundbreaking Protocol in Atlanta Survival Data on Over 14,000 Oldenlandia:Oldenlandia diffusa is an herb that is native to Asia, and has been used for thousands of years as a snake bite remedy. It is now regarded as an anticancer herb. One of the best scientific studies on oldenlandias affect on cancer is published in the 2004 issue of the Journal of Herbal Pharmacotherapy. This study reports that oldenlandia was tested against eight different cancer cell types, and it showed that it was able to stop the growth of these cancer cells. Not only did it stop the growth of the cancer, it also promoted the death of the cancer cells. Researchers conclude that oldenlandia may be a powerful anticancer herb.
Artemisia Artemisia is also known as sweet wormwood and it has been used for years to treat a number of ailments, from fever, to headaches, to malaria. Memorial SloanKettering Cancer Center in New York reports that it also is used as an anticancer treatment. It contains a compound called artemisinin, which has been found to stop the spread of thyroid cancer cells, and promote cell death in lung cancer. Scutellaria Scutellaria is an herb that is native to China and Korea. A study published in the February 2007 issue of Phytotherapy Research reports that scutellaria takes an active role against cancer no matter which stage the cancer is in. It prevents the development of cancer cells, and prevents new cancer cells from forming or developing off an existing tumor. This study states that scutellaria is particularly effective against gynecological cancers. Curcumin Curcumin is from the turmeric herb and is another herb that is better known as a spice than as an anticancer treatment. However, a study in the JanuaryFebruary issue of Anticancer Research shows that like scutellaria, curcumin is effective in treating the different stages of cancer. It is found to stop the development of tumors, as well as tumor growth, and the spread of cancer cells to other parts of the body. The study also reports that curcumin was given to human subjects in a dose of up to 10g per day with no evidence of toxic effects.

If they are, either shift them or install an up lighter there. 4. Make sure that there is no mirror reflecting their books while they study. This can double their workload hence creating a lot of pressure on them. 5. In Vedic astrology, the full Moon is considered to be much more favorable than the new Moon. Certain full Moons are highlighted in the Indian calendar as they are linked to special holidays or festivals. Today marks the very auspicious full Moon of Guru Purnima. Many of the Vedic months are named according to the nakshatra (or lunar constellation) in which the full Moon falls within that month. This is the month of Ashadha. Today, the full Moon falls in the nakshatra of Purva Ashadha in the sign of Sagittarius in Vedic astrology. Guru Purnima marks the day which devoted to honoring the Gurus, or sacred teachers, in our lives. The prefix Gu means darkness and the suffix ru means light. Thus, a Guru is one who leads us from the darkness of ignorance to the light of selfawareness. It is widely thought that the Gods incarnate in human form as Gurus to instruct humans and lead them to the path of knowledge. Guru Purnima is also known as Vyas Purmina. Veda Vyasa was the great Indian rishi or sage who is said to have compiled the four Vedas, the ancient books of Vedic knowledge. Vyasa also wrote the 18 volumes of the revered
spiritual texts the Puranas the Mahabharata, and the Bhagavad Gita. Additionally, Veda Vyasa instructed Dattatreya, who thought to be the Guru of Gurus. As the story goes, Veda Vyasas disciples were so full of gratitude for all that they had received from him that they asked him how they could repay him for all the profound knowledge that he had imparted. Vyasa told his disciples to choose one day of the year in which to pay homage to him. This way, their prayers and offerings could reach their Guru. The disciples chose the full Moon of the month of Ashadha to honor their Guru, as it was the fullest and most luminous Moon of the year. They named this day Guru Purnima. On Guru Purnima, students honor their teachers by spending time with their living teachers. Disciples also remember their teachers (both past and present), chant their name, and offer gifts (known as dakshina) to thank their teachers for the grace that has been bestowed in their lives. There are indications of health in our chart. The ascendant, or first house, gives a description of the persons overall vitality and personality. There are also houses in ones chart that are correlated to health. The chart describes ones regimens, routines, exercise patterns, chronic health ailments and acute health issues. In jyotish, we experience planetary cycles from birth to death. Each of us experiences the same set of cycles, but which ones and when depend on where our moon is placed natally. There are also harmonic, or divisional, charts that relate to health and vitality. All of these in combination with an ayurvedic diagnosis and ones health history can be the guideposts to a healthy life. There are static indications of health in a persons life shown by the natal placement of the planets in a chart. Then we also have dynamic indications, which are an interplay of the planetary cycles that a person experiences and the transit of the planets through the 12 houses of the zodiac. (Houses of the zodiac are key areas of a persons life, such as personality, money, love, partnerships, career and other categories.) For instance, if we are undergoing a Saturn period, then we want to see where Saturn is transiting (Saturns current position) as well as where it was placed natally (when the person was born). In Vedic astrology, the house that Saturn occupies natally can represent an area of challenge for the individual, as well as where the greatest lessons are to be learned. If Saturn is transiting ones ascendant (first house), the person may undergo radical changes in his or her appearance or exercise patterns and may move to a new location. Then, after taking all this into consideration, recommendations can be made accordingly for diet, herbs, yoga asanas as well as astrological remedies. Remedies may take the form of Sanskrit mantras. Mantras have healing effects on the organs as well as on the subtle bodies. Because each sound in Sanskrit has a particular vibration, it is crucial that the mantra be pronounced correctly. Incorrectly pronounced syllables or words will produce another outcome. Many sounds in Sanskrit are not part of the English dialect, so it is best to learn from a native speaker whenever possible. Even the word mantra is often mispronounced. It is man (as in Monday or mundane) and tra (as in truck). Other astrological remedies may include wearing gemstones at specifically recommended times, performing charitable acts, fasting on certain days, wearing auspicious colors on a particular day and reading a particular scriptural text. Remedies are often prescribed for periods when there may be challenging indications found in a chart. There are also times when an astrological chart may indicate a good time to commence certain healthpromoting activities. Both the astrological chart and the lines and shape on the palm indicate dietary preferences. The ayurvedic practitioner knows rules of food combining, the importance of eating for ones constitution as well as according to the season and how to cook a variety of meals using healing spices. We look not only at what our bodies ingest, but also at the environment in which we live. Incorrect placements of doorways, windows, furniture and objects in and around our homes can have disharmonious effects. This can be conflict in our relationships, diminished prosperity or ill health. This is another feature that the counselor needs to take into consideration. The links are all connected like pieces of a puzzle. Seeing where all the parts fit into the whole helps us keep perspective in our lives. It helps us maintain that state of union that we all seek. restricted thinking. Those in a Mars or Saturn planetary cycle (dasha or bhukti) in Vedic astrology will be most impacted by this transit. In Vedic astrology, the pairing occurs in Virgo, the sixth sign of the natural zodiac. Mars is less comfortable in Virgo, since it is not as friendly with landlord Mercury as is Saturn. Virgo is very diligent, methodical, and plans out activities after analyzing the details and making precise calculations. Virgo also is a house related to health, so this time can be utilized to create healthpromoting routines.
Mars
After spending an unprecedented eight months in the fiery sign of Leo in Vedic astrology, sizzling Mars has moved into earthy Virgo today. Mars joins a retrograde Saturn in this sign. This makes for a potent combination. Mars and Saturn are the two great natural malefics in Vedic astrology, or those planets which deliver experiences which we render as undesirable. When they come together, the astrological pot is stirred. Mars is the celestial warrior, braced for war at any time. It is the planet of action, courage, aggression, and conflict. Saturn is the slowest moving planet, very cautious, responsible, and strategic. It can bring delays, obstacles, and burdens to teach us our greatest life lessons. This pair of opposites create a pushpull dynamic. Mars is hot; Saturn is cold. Mars loves risk; Saturn is riskaverse. Its like driving with one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake simultaneously. This combination promotes a dynamic akin to the reluctant warrior. It makes people break out of a slump and choose a new modality. Mars and Saturn promote industriousness and hard work. It can lead to discipline in action by pushing us beyond our limitations and our
Saturn
The sixth house is also connoted with employees or subordinates, so there can be conflict between supervisors and those reporting to them. Also be cautious about getting involved in legal conflicts and double check all angles before entering binding agreements. Additionally, the nakshatras or constellations in which the Mars and Saturn fall come into play here. Mars has to be careful of getting involved with the wrong person romantically. They can also accumulate more than they need. People may continually seek you out to help them in some way. Saturn will be very serious, requiring order in all situations. It will be very concerned with proper administration of matters. Even if it gets involved with artistic endeavors, Saturn will not be engaging in these activities for fun, but for precision. The great benefic planet, Jupiter, is also aspecting (influencing) Virgo at this time, so this friction is somewhat softened. The potential for good wisdom to come on board exists. Fortunately, Saturn and Mars dont intersect this time in Virgo, as Saturn is returning to Libra on August 2. 2012

The Leadership Conference of Women Religious, representing 80% of U.S. Catholic nuns, met with Vatican officials on June 5 to discuss a critique that led to a Vatican decision to overhaul their organization. The Vatican had deemed the group to be too feminist. A Kennedale, Texas, woman began camping on a church rooftop on June 5 as a means to raise awareness for hunger. There was also news on the political front: Financial leaders from the G7 meeting put pressure on Europe on June 5 to be more aggressive in handling their growing debt crisis. (Taurus is the house of finances). On June 5, a U.S. envoy challenged Iranian officials to disprove suspicions that they have been covertly working on a nuclear arms program. It was reported in early June that since many of the drug lords in Mexico have been killed, several new cartel bosses are their surviving female family members. As with the previous Venus transit in 2004 in Taurus, the issue of gay marriage arose. In Vedic astrology, the 27 nakshatras encapsulate a story of creation and weave a thread from one nakshatra to the next. While Rohini is a passionate nakshatra, there is no mention of marriage mythologically. Rohini can represent unfulfilled desire. On June 5, the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against rehearing arguments over a California ballot measure banning gay marriage, after previously upholding a district courts rejection of the law. The case most likely moves to the U.S. Supreme Court next. Washington state voters received sufficient signatures to put an antigay marriage referendum back on the November 2012 ballot. The Governor had signed a law in February legalizing gay marriage. A St. Paul, MN pastor made headlines on CNN on June 5. His support of gay rights has cost his more than 2/3 of his congregation. If he doesnt raise $200,000 by the end of the month, the church will have to close. On June 3, there was a protest outside a church in Indiana where a young boy had previously sung an antigay song during a congregation. (Taurus is the house of speech). How this transit will shape the face of future events will continue to unfold. Individually, the Venus Transit 2012 seems to have brought up deepseated desires and aspirations as well as the impulse to create a future as bright as the star of Rohini.

10) A debilitated planet, aspected by the lord of the sign, situated in an auspicious house. 11) Lord of the Rasi in which a planet is debilitated or the lord of the planets exaltation sign, or the planet who gets exalted there is in a trine from the Lagna or the Moon.
According to the scriptures the universe was born of the body of the Kaal Purush or Aadi Purush. From the mind of the Divine was born Moon, from his eyes was born sun, life energy from ears, beauty from air and fire from mouth. From his navel was born the universe, sky from his head, earth from his feet and all directions from his ears. The Divine assumed the form of Hiranyagarbh and established true values on earth and created the five elements - air, water, earth, fire and ether. From the planets and stars was born the science of determining the future. From the seasons were born the festivals and the various Yagnas. From the soul of the Divine, man and all other creatures were born. When a person goes against natural laws of planets and stars then diseases are born. Birth and death are two ends of life. The cycle starts with birth and ends with death. The Lord of Death is Yamraj who is the son of Sun. Another son is Saturn who represents sorrows in life. From sorrows, pain, ignorance, anger, fear, lust are born hundreds of diseases. To destroy these ailments Lord Shiva assumed the form of Mahamrityunjay. Lord Rudra represents both joys and sorrows in life. As Rudra he curses and punishes for ones sins and in the form of Rudra he blesses one with joys and longevity. Comforts in human life are signified by the planet Jupiter. Jupiter is also the significator of knowledge. This planet is related to the memory centre in the human brain. It also signifies divine consciousness. If it aspects a planet that might be the cause of ailments one becomes free of the diseases. The Guru of demons or passions i.e. Venus forms the background for development of Samskars. He makes an individual indulge in pleasures and thus keeps the world moving in a vicious cycle. Mercury encourages these tendencies of Venus. Mars along with Venus makes a person indulge in sins. Under the influence of Venus even Saturn forgets its duty to punish a person for his sins. One gains wealth and prosperity as a result of the good deeds of the past birth and this effect is manifested by Jupiter. And it is Venus that induces a person to spend his money for pleasure. Due to the knowledge bestowed by Jupiter one develops a good memory of science and also the power of eloquence. Eloquence is ruled by the planet mercury. Thus eloquence, mercury and Jupiter are related. It is in fact stated in the texts that mercury is the illegitimate son of Jupiter. This is why Mercury feels inimical towards Jupiter. But he is friendly towards Venus. Mercury was born when the moon copulated with the wife of Jupiter. If mercury is in the ninth house, in Sagittarius or with Jupiter in the horoscope one becomes indebted towards ones parents. A wise person has control over his tongue and he is able to ward off the influence of Venus. But Maya (delusion) represented by Moon makes the mind, represented by Mercury, pervert. This is why evil continues to exist in the world. If Saturn had not been so easily swayed by Venus then it would have destroyed all evil and made every person a Sanyasi. Even Lord Shiva was compelled by the pleadings of Rati to revive Kaamdev after he had turned him to ashes by the fierce power of his Third Eye. The link between knowledge (Jupiter),Maya (Moon) and pleasures (Venus) is Mercury. The universe has been created by limiting (effect of mercury) the infinite represented by Jupiter. Jupiter takes care of ones physique according to ones past good deeds and the control one has over ones tongue. But Mercury if situated in the ninth, in Sagittarius or with
Jupiter creates the problem of Pitra Rinn (indebtedness to the parents). If such a combination is present in the horoscope then the course of life of a person is not determined by the ordinary rules of Astrology. Determining the Pitra Rinn and paying it off is the only way through which such a person can be free from his problems in life. Jupiter is the significator of the sky element and of diseases like obesity, ailments of the stomach, cough etc. If situated in the sixth house Jupiter makes one suffer from eye problems. Venus represents wealth and Jupiter represents knowledge. It is stated in the ancient text Vishnnu Bhrigu that where there is Lakshmi, there will not be knowledge and where there is knowledge there will not be wealth. This is what happens normally in the world. Hence when Venus is in the ninth, in Sagittarius or with Jupiter then too one is burdened by Pitra Rinn. The individual has to suffer the consequences of the sins of his ancestors. The rules of Karma state that a person has not only to experience the effect of deeds of past lives rather he also has to experience effect of the deeds of his ancestors. In the twelfth house Venus is very auspicious and if situated in the twelfth sign Pisces then the individual indulges a lot in pleasures. If Jupiter too is in this house or with the Lord of the twelfth house then one suffers from severe constipation. Association with Saturn worsens the situation. Jupiter creates trouble for the house in which it is situated. For example, if situated in ascendant Aries the individual suffers from problems in the feet specially if Mars is in the twelfth house or Pisces. If Jupiter is aspected by Saturn or Jupiter and Saturn are together in the ascendent then the individual suffers from frequent wounds in the feet and there might even be loss of the lower limbs. Jupiter in the ascendent in Aries also makes the digestion weak. If Jupiter is in ascendent in Taurus or Leo and Mercury is in fifth house then the individual suffers from skin problems. Similarly if Jupiter is in ascendent in Taurus or Leo and Mercury is in 3rd, 6th, 8th or 12th house aspected or with malefic planets like Saturn, Rahu or Ketu then too one suffers from skin diseases. Sex power is weakened if Jupiter is in Capricorn or Aquarius in the ascendent. If Jupiter is in Aquarius then one suffers from child related problems. Jupiter in Capricorn in the twelfth brings constipation. Jupiter in Gemini in ascendent makes one suffer in childhood. If the ascendent is Virgo or Libra and Jupiter is posited there then the individual is cunning. The family of the individual has to suffer a lot. If Jupiter is situated in ascendent and Sun, Mars aspect it then one suffers from blood disorders. If Jupiter, Sun and Ketu are together in any house except the fifth one suffers from blood disorders and digestion problems. If Guru and Rahu are together in the ascendent or the Lord of ascendent is in eighth house then one suffers from Hydrocele. If Jupiter, Sun or Ketu are together then one suffers from Thyroid problem. If Jupiter is in ascendent and Mars in the seventh house then one suffers from madness. If Jupiter, Venus and Mars are together then the Pancreas gland is affected. If Jupiter is in the second house and aspected by Mercury then the individual loses all his wealth in getting medical treatment. Those born in Aries or Virgo ascendent generally have this experience. If Jupiter is in second house in Libra the person becomes immoral. One also has no happiness from children and one is not married to the right person. If Jupiter is in Virgo in the second house one becomes poor. If Rahu has any influence over this Jupiter one suffers from stomach related problems. If Jupiter is in second house in Leo then too one suffers from this problem. If Jupiter is in second house in Scorpio and Mars and Rahu are in eighth house then one suffers from ailments of the anus. Jupiter is auspicious if situated in Sagittarius. But if this Jupiter is in second house then one suffers from digestive problems. But if Jupiter is in Capricorn in the second house then one is long lived. In the second house Jupiter in Aquarius makes one suffer from anal diseases. The problem is aggravated if Rahu, Mars
and Saturn influence Scorpio or the eighth house. In the third house Jupiter makes that house the cause of a persons death. Such an individual could earn wealth by illegal means or violence. But if aspected by Mercury one becomes poor. If Jupiter in the third is with Saturn or Mars one has to even go to jail. If Jupiter is in third house in Libra one suffers from back problems. Also if Sun and Mars aspect the seventh house then one suffers from kidney problems and pain in back. In the third house Jupiter in Virgo curtails ones life. If Saturn aspects Jupiter in third or fourth house one has extra marital relations. A strong Jupiter in the third makes one immoral. On the other hand Jupiter in an inimical sign in the third makes one moral. If Jupiter in the fourth is influenced by Saturn then one suffers from various physical ailments. If Jupiter is in the sixth and influenced by Mars one suffers from kidney problems. In this house Jupiter in Scorpio makes one wounded by enemies. In the sixth in Cancer Jupiter makes one suffer from back problems. In Gemini in the sixth house Jupiter makes one never suffer from eye problems. But one is ever in danger of attacks from enemies. If Jupiter is in Leo in sixth ones death might be caused by enemies. The situation becomes grave if there is influence of Rahu, Mars and Saturn. One then also has to suffer from fear of poison and snakes. If Saturn aspects such a Jupiter ones death could be caused by drinking poison or snake bite. In this house the same effect is caused by Jupiter in Capricorn. In the sixth house Jupiter in Aquarius causes sexually transmitted diseases. If Jupiter is in seventh in Scorpio or Capricorn then one suffers from cancer, piles, sores etc. If this combination is in Aries then one has to suffer from fear from the state side. One also gains a tendency to steal and defraud others. If Jupiter is in seventh in Taurus or Libra one spends a lot on prostitutes. But if Jupiter is in signs of Mercury one is very moral. If Jupiter is in Gemini then one becomes uninterested in the world and a Sanyaasi. If Saturn and moon are together in any house then this tendency becomes even stronger. If Jupiter is in eighth then the diseases caused by Jupiter leads one to death. One can die due to problems of nerve failure, pain, ears, murder, diarrhoea, blood disorders, accidents, state punishment or overeating depending on the sign that is in the eighth house. if Jupiter is in ninth house one earns through ones own efforts. Such a individual is a self made man. There are problems in life which leave scars on the body. Jupiter in the tenth makes one immoral. Jupiter in eleventh removes problems of life. In this house almost all planets give good results. But if this house is influenced by malefic planets then many problems could be created. One could commit suicide if Jupiter is in twelfth house in Aries or Jupiter conjoins Mars in twelfth house. This combination could also lead to poisoning and pain in the body. If Jupiter is in Scorpio in this house one is adopted and one has to leave ones home. Jupiter helps one get the good results of good deeds of past lives. Of course the effect of bad deeds also manifest. Venus induces passions and makes the good effects of past deeds weak. It makes one move towards evil. Good deeds in past lives lead to pleasures. And too many pleasures could lead to ailments For more help with this articles and how to select right remedy and which are appropriate to your current problems which you are undergoing , please contact immediately Swamiji Sri Selvam Siddhar @ Toll free in USA 1-888-808-1418. For cuts, wounds, fungal infections, and athletes foot, apply a mixture of teaspoon turmeric and 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel to the affected area. For swelling from injury, apply a paste of turmeric and water to the area. For swollen gums and canker sores, apply turmeric powder directly to the affected areas. - His Holiness Swamiji Sri Selvam Siddhar People constantly rave about how they love Indian food. They savor the aroma and all the flavorful spices. The delectable tastes tantalize their taste buds and leave an indelible impression. While Indian spices can enhance the enjoyment of any dish, they also have medicinal properties. Each spice used in Indian cooking has multiple health benefits. Spices can be utilized in a number of home remedies for healing common ailments naturally. Ill be exploring a new spice and its uses in each monthly blog. According to Ayurveda, each food has at least one of six tastes or rasas: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent, and astringent. We require each taste in our diet. One of the best health promoting spices in Ayurveda is turmeric. Turmeric is pungent, bitter and astringent. It may be consumed by all three Ayurvedic body types, but may increase Pitta dosha if used excessively, as its heating. Turmeric is antiseptic, antibacterial, antiflatulent, and a decongestant. Turmeric derives from the rhizomes of the plant Curcuma longa, which is a member of the ginger family. Curcumin is the most active component of turmeric and has powerful antioxidant and antiinflammatory properties. Turmeric maintains the flora of the intestines and helps guard against gastric disorders. Its a natural antiseptic, antibacterial agent and blood cleanser, useful in disinfecting cuts, burns, wounds, and other skin infections. Taking turmeric is a natural way to detox the liver. Curcumin has been found to help increase the flow of bile, which is an important component in the breakdown of dietary fat. For diabetics, turmeric may be taken to help regulate blood sugar. Due to its antiinflammatory properties and pain relieving properties, turmeric is used for arthritis pain. Multiple studies have shown that turmeric has anticancerous properties Karma 34 For upper respiratory congestion, dry cough, or asthma, boil 1 cup of milk with 1 teaspoon of turmeric on the stove and drink at bedtime. Many Indians start their day by brushing their teeth, scraping their tongue, and then drinking a glass of warm water with a teaspoon of turmeric as a preventive measure. The easiest way to use turmeric is to add it to your food. It may also be taken in capsule form. Please consult your health care practitioner or medical professional for advice on how to best incorporate natural healing modalities into your life.
In the Vedic scriptures all creation is said to begin from divine light emanating from the Supreme Being. In the Kurma Purana, chapter 3, verses 1 & 2 are describing Bhuvanakosha or the matrix of this universe, Evamesha Mahadevo Devadevah Pitamahah Karoti Niyatam Kalam Kalatma Hyaisvari Tanuh Tasya Ye Rasmayo Viprah Sarvaloka pradipakah Tesam Sresthah Punah Saptarasmayo Graha yonayah In this way the Great Lord, the Lord of the Lords, the universal Grandfather, always creates time, He being the Essence of time, with a body endowed with all conceivable powers. The rays that compose His body are omnipresent and illume the limitless worlds in the universe. Among them seven are the best and the highest as they form the matrices of the seven planets. This reference to the seven colors of the rainbow, or the components of visible light, herein state that the substratum of the universe consists of these seven principal rays and are said to be chief amongst the rays forming the body of the universe and the Supreme Godhead. In stating that these rays are identical with the universe and also with the powers of God, or the qualities of omniscience, omnipotence and omnipresence, it also
infers that they are responsible for creation, maintenance and destruction of the universe, according to the Supreme will and the effect of time. The connection between the five Mahabhutas and the planets is shown in Vedic astrological works, notably Brihat Jataka by Varaha Mihira (considered one of the great authorities on this subject) around 400 A.D. It speaks of the Sun as the condensed form of the red ray, Moon of orange, Mars of yellow, Mercury of green, Jupiter of blue, Venus of indigo and Saturn violet. It is in the Ayurvedic texts that the process of color rays within creation is taken a step further with the mention of the Pancha Mahabhutas, or five great elements in the form of earth, water, fire, air and ether. It is concluded that earth is the condensed green color, water of orange and indigo, fire of red and yellow, air of violet and ether blue. The Pancha Tanmatras, or five subtle substances considered in the Samkhya philosophical system, also have their origin in these seven cosmic colors. The red cosmic color is responsible for sight, green for smell, violet for touch, blue for sound, and orange for taste respectively. The yellow ray, which is warming and the indigo ray, which is cooling, regulate the bodys temperature.
Karma 35
Examination of the sense organs through a prism will actually show these colors to the eye if examined carefully. There will be a green glow around the tip of the nose and red will be visible in the eyes. The skin will give off an aura of violet and the tongue orange. Within the cavities of the head, the mouth and ears, blue will be detected. The five primeval vayus, so important to our vital wellbeing make up the pranic sheath. These are known as prana, apana, samana, udana and vyana, which also have their origin in the seven colors of the rainbow. Prana vayu has a close association with the earth element and therefore the green ray. Apana vayu is connected with the water principle and therefore the cosmic colors of orange and indigo. Samana vayu is of fire and therefore composed of red and yellow. Udana vayu is of air, thus the violet color, while vyana vayu and ether find their origin in the cosmic blue ray. Accordingly, it is a forgone conclusion that the combination of the elements or tridosha of ayurveda also have their origin in these seven cosmic rays of light. Vayu, air, combines air and ether, thus originating from blue and violet. Pitta, fire, is from fire and thus the colors red and yellow are its composition. Kapha dosha is a combination of earth and water, thus coming from orange, indigo and green. Such observations obviously lend credence to these Vedic conclusions that it is due to the presence of these cosmic colors that the subtle and gross material creations can become animated and function on a physical, emotional, mental and conscious level. Our cellular structure is composed of the seven cosmic rays. To remain in a healthy condition the rays within the cells should be in state of equilibrium. The great seers and healers of ancient Bharatavarsha made the observation that specific precious gems held within them the strongest concentration of the light rays found on the planet. There are many references in Vedic scriptures regarding the innate potency of gems when worn on the body. The texts of Garuda Purana, the Narada Purana and Agni Purana all give references to the use of gems. Although they do not give much information as to the methods of prescribing them for health or astrological reasons, they do give parameters for necessary quality of gem crystals, as well as benefits for human beings. Gemology was also an important Vedic science in ancient times given that in Vaishnava texts it is described that Krishna and Balarama also studied it in the gurukula of Sandipani Muni. These gems are nine in total and linked to the seven planets in the jyotish (astrological) system. The two extra gems, not yet mentioned, are connected to the infrared and ultra violet spectrum of the rainbow. Ruby emits the same ray as the Sun Red Red coral the same as Mars Yellow Yellow sapphire as Jupiter Blue Karma 36
These are all considered to emit rays that are hot in nature. Pearl emits the same ray as the Moon Orange Emerald as Mercury Green Diamond as Venus Indigo Blue Sapphire as Saturn Violet These are all considered to emit rays that are cooling in nature. Hessonite garnet (also called gomed) is used for increasing the ultraviolet ray. This is for Rahu or the north node of the moon and is the coldest cosmic ray. Chrysoberyl catseye is a concentrated source of the infrared cosmic ray and is for Ketu or the south node of the moon. It is the hottest of the rays. Natural gems radiate single cosmic rays only. Most other organic materials radiate a mixture of rays, with one or two being predominant. For thousands of years, Ayurvedic doctors and Jyotishis have prescribed the use of natural precious gems in medicines or as amulets and rings. It is as a practicing Jyotishi and graduate gemologist for almost the past 40 years that I became interested in the link between these gems and the cosmic rays. We were introduced to the groundbreaking work of the late Dr. Benyotosh Battacharya of Calcutta who experimented with color wheels, gems and color depletion on cellular levels many years ago. Dr. Battacharya noted that when two cosmic rays are disturbed, through proper health management, the body is capable of healing itself. Yet when three or more rays are disturbed and are
left to remain so, the body will succumb to disease. Recent studies have confirmed that sunlight is the key to the circadian system, our melatonin levels and cancer cells. The Suns light also affects those who are physically blind so our perception through the eyes has nothing to do with such absorption by the human body. In the West the work of scientist Edwin Babbitt in 1878 on the principles of light and color was gleaned from Vedic texts. Unfortunately, followers of his beliefs were not taken seriously. Following him was Dinshaw Ghadiali who developed his own system called SPECTROCHROME Therapy. His sons book documents his successes and relates his persecution for his groundbreaking work. Russian scientists have researched the healing qualities of light, and determined that 660 nanometers was the most effective at sedating pain and stimulating healing. This technology has brought us LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). Multiple diodes are also being used today in lamps specially created to treat pain. Modern scientific experiments with crystals superconductivity have been observed, as electrons pair up below a certain temperature. Various compounds possess these superconducting properties, from pure metallic compounds to man made crystals of various alloys. The use of gem crystals has now long been known to modern science as quartz crystal is used in clocks, watches and computers, to using ruby in lasers in medicine and for other scientific applications. Unfortunately wellfunded experimentation with crystals in laboratory environments takes place mainly in the purview of military defense contractors and production of military weapons, rather than for healing. With the exception of a few notable doctors such as Dr. Shah of Bombay, a heart specialist, who is finding great success treating specific diseases using gems clinically, only a few doctors and health practitioners in Germany and the UK are developing and using light instruments for healing. Those that are using such methods are gaining impressive results in extended clinical trials, which in some cases have become a mainstay of many health care service practitioners in those countries. To promote healing within the body cells, organs and glands that are overstressed must have their present vibratory frequency reduced. Alternatively, when the vibratory level is too sluggish, the frequency needs to be increased. The brains activity, which can be read with biofeedback equipment, will show the state of health via the brainwaves vibrations. In severe anxietyridden states of mind, such as panic attacks, the brains frequency will be a high beta state, above 25 Mhz or cycles per second. Muscles will be contracted and the adrenals will be on overload. Often the eyes are seen as excessively dilated, and the body can go into shock. To counteract this, the brains vibrational frequency must be reduced toward an alpha state (8.5Mhz).
There are five basic brain frequencies: High Beta (25MHz) causes extreme anxiety Beta (1430MHz) required to concentrate and cope with the daily affairs of life. Alpha (7.814MHz) the brains waves during meditation Theta (3.27.8MHz) hypnotic, trance like or dreaming Delta (0.13.2MHz) deep dreamless sleep Gems have specific vibratory qualities that may be used to change and influence the brainwaves, but they can also be used to effect the cellular vibrations in the body, necessary for healthy functioning of all major organs and glands. The average frequency of the body during the day is between 62 and 68 cycles each second. If it drops below this rate, the immune system will start to shut down. Dr. Young and Bruce Tainio of Cheny University, noted that during their research cold symptoms appeared at 58 cycles, glandular fever at 52 and cancer at 42 cycles each second. Natural, untreated gemstones, which are repositories of cosmic colors, can restore the pranic energy in the cellular structure, regaining the bodies ability to fight infection and disease. Blue sapphire can sedate or tranquilize; emerald can be used as an analgesic; Yellow sapphire has antiseptic qualities; and diamond may be used as a stimulant. This therapy can be used to stimulate acupuncture points, to heal wounds or skin conditions with less scarring, to calm the mind, and to balance the doshas or bodily humors as well as to target biological energy and cohesion on a deep cellular level. This is groundbreaking work, and much more is yet to be done, but it is not only our belief, but also that of many who work in this area of expertise, that using light waves and color spectrum vibrations for healing is the medicine of the future. It is noninvasive, has little or no side effects and if offered with dietary and lifestyle changes can often heal the patient completely and permanently. Utilizing the wearing of gems in conjunction with this clinical method can also optimize the results gained. The ancient authors of the science of Ayurveda told of the healing potential of gemstone crystals. Perhaps they knew that thousands of years later we would come to enhance this healing modality by combining it with our modern scientific discoveries and techniques. If they did, I hope they saw in us the courage to pursue our research and make it a safe, natural form of treatment for generations to come.

The hypertension is one of the widespread disorders came across in practice. It is being a kind of epidemic in India due to luxurious and prowestern life style. Though there is not any parallel word for hypertension available in the Ayurvedic texts. But some pathogenesises are available, which produces hypertension type disease, like rasavrit Vyan vata and raktavrit vata are two main pathogenesises. The high blood pressure or elevated arterial blood pressure is being common asymptomatic readily, detectable, usually easily treatable and often leading to lethal complication if left untreated.
Definition: What is hypertension exactly, this is an underconsideration issue but this has been observed that there is a very emaciated division between normal and abnormal blood pressure. But at least it is mandatory to make some differences between both for diagnostic purpose. The limit has been established in our 5threport of Jt. National committee on detection, evaluation and treatment of high blood pressure. Arch Int. Med 153:161, 1993. This working group suggests a classification of the normal pressure for adult aged 18 years and older. Normal blood pressure: CATAGARY SYSTOLIC (mmHg)DIASTOLIC (mmHg) Normal 130 85 High normal 130139 8589
CAUSES: When blood passes all the way through in the blood vessels it creates the pressure on the walls of them. This is a physiological recognizable fact. But due to any reason when this physiology gets instability, subsequently blood pressure related disabilities take place. Some specific foundations are there, which are responsible to it. They are here: A.Systolic BP with wide pulse pressurecaused by arteriosclerosis, aortic regurgitation, thyrotoxicocsis, hyper kinetic heart syndrome, arteriovenous fistula, and patient ductus arteriosus. B.Systolic and Endocrinological, Acromagaly. diastolic BP (hypertension)Renal, pheochromocytoma, Myxedema, and
C. Neurology: psychogenic, Diencephalic syndrome, Rileyday, Polyneuritis, increased intracranial pressure, and pathogenesis related to spinal cord. D. Miscellaneous: increased intravascular volume, excessive transfusion, polucythemiavera, polyarteritis, and hypocalcaemia. E. Unknown etiology: essential hypertension >90% of all case of BP, toxemia in pregnancy. Apart from these some more cause are also persist around us that are blamed to be the creators of the BP, they are as follows: Environmental: numerous environmental factors like salt in taking, obesity, occupation, family size, and crowding have been proved sufficient enough to develop the hypertension. Hereditary: the genetic factors have long been assumed to be important in genesis of BP or hypertension. Other: age, sex, race, smoking, serum cholesterol, glucose intolerance and many other standing causes are there in the rear of the pathology. The classification: Patient with arterial hypertension and no definable cause is observed are said to have primary, essential, or idiopathic

hypertension; while secondary hypertension appears as a symptoms associated with other disease. We are here to talk about the primary, essential or idiopathic hypertension. The primary, idiopathic or essential hypertension is a disease in it self. It is supposed to be a silent killer within a human being because in developing stages body tries to adjust itself according to normal arrangements against the immerging hypertension and as the result the symptoms possibly dont come in the notice. The hypertension gradually increases it strength. The patient does not understand any thing about the disease due to absence of symptoms, and after getting maturity; the blood pressure shows his presence with an emergency (not always but it can happen), like massive brain haemorrhage, onset of severe hypertension even more deadly situation; the massive heart attack. A few years ago this was the perception in the mentality of every doctor that the age+90 is the normal blood pressure but now this thing is not more. Many principles about blood pressure have been changed. However it is not the matter of frustration, it is the issue of health awareness. An athlete seldom suffers this problem, why! He always does the workout regularly. Consequently this is the right time to consider over it. Diagnosis: An elegant physician will confirm the BP records on several occasions. Only one or two chance of BP checking cannot create the accurate diagnosis. Once the diagnosis established, the connected examinations should be carried out to assess the target organ damage (TOD). The most important features for the TOD are ECG, angiography, and blood tests like lipid profile; blood urea, serum creatinine, and other investigations can suggest the damage of organs and prognosis of the disease. These are some references from the texts of Ayurveda that show the depictions the hypertension type pathogenesises. THE AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENTS FOR HYPERTENSION: The Ayurveda is providing successful and result oriented management with its allpioneering effort. The life style modification is the main theme for the management. The modifications in the every habit and daily routine is unavoidable. The Ayurvedic managements have many correlated steps of its therapies like herbalmineral formulations, ahaar, vihaar, yoga and many more. The drug regimen is divided into two main steps: Symptomatic management for instant relief and B. to destroy the pathology (which is called as the SAMPRAPTI VIGHATAN) The emergency handling is not available in the Ayurveda, but it is enough proficient to obliterate many pathogenesises related to BP.

Kacha and Devayani Devayani was the beautiful daughter of Shukracahrya, preceptor to the Asuras, the demons. Shukracharya knew the secret of Mritasanjibani that brings back to life the Asuras, killed in the war with the gods, the devas. The devas also wanted to know Shukracharya had a daugher, Devayani, whom he loved dearly. He introduced Kacha to his daughter saying, Kacha has vowed to be my pupil till the period of his studies is over. All learning in those days was handed down by word of mouth. The pupil lived with his gurus family as one of the household. In return for his education, the pupil served his guru with love and devotion. However, Shukracharya was very busy either at court or he was deep in meditation. So Kacha helped Devayani with her daily chores and watched after her. Within a few days of his arrival, Kacha found himself spending all his leisure hours in the company of the lively Devayani. Devayani was slowly drawn towards Kacha and they fell in love. Shukracharya liked Kacha because he was an attentive disciple. As the years passed, the Asuras became suspicious of Kacha. They wanted to get rid of him. One day as Kacha was attending Shukracharyas cattle, the Asuras fell upon him and slew him. Then they cut him into pieces and fed his flesh to their dogs. When Kacha did not come home at the normal hour, Devayani became alarmed. When the cattle came back without Kacha she ran in a panic to her father and told him that Kacha was missing. Shukracharya closed his eyes and to the great relief of Devayani, Kacha came back to life and appeared before her. When Devayani inquired about his disappearance, Kacha tried to explain in a puzzled voice, I was killed by the Asuras but I do not know how I came back to life? Shukracharya just smiled. The love between Kacha and Devayani grew day by day. The Asuras were worried. They guessed right, Kacha was there to learn the secret of Mritasanjibani. One day Devayani asked Kacha to get her a particular flower that only grows in the deep forest. Kacha went for it. The Asuras
followed him and once again killed him. But this time they carried his body to a secluded spot, grounded up into a paste, and dissolved it in the water of the ocean. Devayani waited and waited. When Kacha did not return she went again to her father. Shukracharya meditated and once again used the secret knowledge to revive Kacha. Devayani was overjoyed. The Asuras were now at their wits end. How can we kill Kacha? Every time we kill him, his guru brings him to life! They went to one of the senior Asuras and asked him how to destroy Kacha for good. The senior Asura gave them an idea. The next day, when Kacha went out with the cattle, they again slew him. This time then burnt him in the jungle. Then they took the ashes home and mixed it in a wine which Shukracharya was very fond of. They took the drink to Shukracharya for a taste. Shukracharya loved it. He immediately drank it and blessed the Asuras. When the cattle once again returned home without Kacha Devajani knew what had happened. Will Kacha ever be mine? she asked herself The Asuras will never leave him alone! She went to Shukracharya and wept. Father, without Kacha I am as good as dead, please bring him back to life. Shukracharya waited for a while thinking. It is no good to bring Kacha to life. The Asuras will only kill him again. He tried to console his daughter, It is futile Devajani to bring Kacha to life. The Asuras are determined to get rid of him. A wise soul, like you, should not grieve at a loved ones death. You are young and beautiful and you have your own life to live. But Devajani was adamant. So strong was her love for Kacha. Father she said, Kacha was your best student. I am in love with him. I can not live without him.
the secret of Mritasanjibani. So they sent Kacha, the handsome son of Brihaspati, preceptor to the Devas, to fall in love with Devayani. This is the story of Kacha and Devayani and how the devas learnt the secret of Mritasanjibani.
Feature story
Long ago, the Devas and the Asuras fought all the time for the lordship of the three worlds. The Asuras were care free and happy as long as Shukracharya, their preceptor, was with them. The valiant Devas, tired of the unequal struggle, went to Kach, the handsome son of Brihaspati, preceptor of the Devas and asked him to go to Shukracharya and learn the secret of Mritasanjibani. The obedient and dutiful Kacha immediately set out to meet Shukracharya. He humbly presented himself before the great wise man, introduced himself as the son of Brihaspati, and asked to become his disciple. Shukracharya was a true teacher. He immediately recognized Kachas brilliance as a student. Shukracharya did not differentiate between his students. He gave Kacha a warm welcome and accepted him as his pupil.

the period of his studies to come to an end, Kacha kept silent. While his love for Devayani was deep, his sense of duty towards the devas was no less strong. On the last the day of his studies, Kacha went to Shukracharya for his blessing. As a wise man and a dedicated teacher, Shukracharya concealed his grudge against Kacha but he was wondering how Kacha was going to bid farewell to Devayani. Devayani waited for Kacha to propose marriage. But when Kacha broke the heartbreaking news that he was going to fulfill his obligations to his own people, her joy turned to tears. Devayani pleaded with Kacha to take her as his wife. But Kacha replied, Peerless one! I was reborn in your fathers stomach. I am therefore your brother. I cant marry you. I must return to heaven. The brokenhearted Devayani cried out in her grief. She accused Kacha of using her to attain his goal. Distort she cursed Kacha, You will never be able to use the craft of Mritasanjivani. Kacha quietly listened and then spoke, Devayani, it is wrong to curse me. I could have walked away without reviving your father. There is no doubt that my love was sincere and truthful. But, I also have a duty to perform towards my own people. Because of your unfairness to me, I am cursing you. No Rishis son will ever marry you. I may still teach the craft of Mritasanjivani to others, even though I may not be able to use it myself. Saying this Kacha departed for the abode of Indra, king of the Devas. Shukhacharya gently led Devayani away. With the passage of time, Devayani completely forgot about Kacha. She once again became playful and lived happily with her father and her playmates in the city of Vrishaparva, king of the Asuras. Of her playmates, the most important was princess Sharmistha, the daughter of king Vrishaparva. In our next story we will tell how Devayani fought with Sharmistha and married king Yayati, a Kshitriya, who belonged to the warrior race.
of yore, a student had to stay with the teacher and help in the teachers daily chores in order to receive the knowledge he sought. It was a day of cold winter. Aruni was carrying the firewood he had collected for the sages household. As he was passing by a field, which belonged to the sage, he noticed a breach in the embankment that was holding water in his teachers field. He realized that the water would seep away and the fields crops would die with no water. What should I do? If I stop to build the embankment I will be delayed and there is no firewood at the hermitage to keep the place warm. I better rush to the hermitage with the firewood and then come back to take care of the breach. Meanwhile the sage and his disciples had assembled for the days lesson. Aruni was missing. Soon Aruni rushed in, dropped the firewood in the courtyard, and informed the teacher about the breach of the embankment. Then he quickly rushed out. Sage Dhoumya felt proud of his disciple, It is hard to get such a responsible disciple. Aruni ran all the way back to the troubled spot and tried to stop the leakage of water by putting some logs and mud. However, this did not stop the leak. The heavy pressure of water washed away the dam Aruni made. He felt helpless. It seemed impossible for him to stop the leakage without help. He thought for a while and then made a plan. It was getting dark and the teacher became worried. He called his disciples and set out looking for Aruni. As he called out for Aruni, he heard a faint voice, Here I am master! The teacher and his disciples rushed to the spot and saw Aruni lying on the breach, in order to hold the water in the field. The disciples quickly pulled Aruni out from the freezing water. He was repeatedly muttering, The water is flowing out, the crops will die .
Devajani stopped eating. Shukracharya could no longer bear to see his daughter in such agony. Again Shukracharya used his secret knowledge and called upon Kacha to come back to the world of the living. Kacha came back to life and spoke from inside the stomach of Shukracharya. The Asuras killed me but I do not know how I happen to be inside your stomach? echoed Kach. Shukracharya cursed himself for drinking the wine given by the Asuras. Henceforth, wine shall be forbidden for those engaged in the pursuit of wisdom, declared Shukracharya in great frustration. Now Shukracharya had a real dilemma of his own. He could ask Kacha to come out but that would mean his own death. When he told Debjani of his dilemma she was again adamant, Father, I can not live if either of you dies. After long deliberation Shukracharya thought of a way out. He knew now the real purpose of Kachas visit. He addressed Kacha, I now see why you came and truly you have succeeded. There is only one way by which both of us can ensure Devayanis happiness. I will have to teach you the craft of Mritasanjivani. With his new knowledge Kacha emerged from Shukracharyas dying body and then immediately brought his guru back to life. Shukracharya could not have been happier with his pupils progress. When the Asuras came to offer him wine, Shukracharya shouted, You fools! Kacha now knows my secret. You helped him learn by your foolish deeds. But rest assured Kacha will continue to live with me because of his love for Devayani. But Shukracharya was wrong. Kacha too faced the troubling dilemma. Waiting for
Story of Aruni
Aruni of Panchala was a dedicated student of the ancient sage Dhoumya. In the days

fell in their trap and banished Ahimsaka from school. Ahimsaka returned home with a heavy heart. When Garg, Ahimsakas father, learned that his son had been turned out of the school, he was furious. He accused Ahimsaka of disgracing his family and threw him out of the house. Poor Ahimsaka. He could not understand why his teacher turned against him and his family was unwilling to hear his side of the story. When he looked for a place to stay, no one was willing to help. He was badly hurt and felt rejected by the world. Finally Ahimsaka decided to leave Shravasti and move to Kaushambi, a nearby town. Deep in thought, as he was walking down the highway, that passes through a hilly forest, he was attacked by a highway robber. The robber demanded his valuables. Ahimsaka was so frustrated that he unloaded his frustration on the robber and gave him a big blow. The robber fell to the ground and was overpowered by Ahimsaka. He begged for mercy. Ahimsaka decided then that he could make his living as a highway robber. Soon he started to attack travelers and traders, looted them and killed them. His extreme frustration and anger against the society turned him into an animal. He not only robbed and killed his victims, he collected their little fingers to make a garland. So people called him Angulimal or the wearer of a garland made of little fingers. People approached king Prasenajit for help. But when Prasenajit sent a small army, Angulimal killed most of them by hurling down huge boulders. The king was amazed by his strength. Prasenajit finally advised his citizens to avoid the highway, until Angulimal was killed. One day, Angulimal found the highway deserted. He was waiting for his prey when he saw a monk passing by. He was none other than Lord Buddha. Angulimal chased the monk for a long time but mysteriously the monk was always one step ahead of him. Angulimal shouted, Stop moving. The monk replied, I am not moving, I am at rest. It is you who is in constant motion because of your discontent. Angulimal threatened to kill Buddha and use his little
finger for his garland. Buddha was not the least disturbed. He stretched his arms out and asked Angulimal to take his fingers if that would make him happy. Angulimal was baffled. He realized his mistake and fell to the feet of Buddha, seeking his mercy. Buddha took Angulimal to his monastery to teach him the life of an ascetic.. Angulimal listened to Buddhas preaching everyday and started to serve in the monastery, taking care of the sick. Gradually, he transformed from a sinner to a saint. When king Prasenajit came to visit Buddha on his way to capture Angulimal, Buddha told him of the change that had come over Angulimal. The king was pleasantly surprised and left Angulimal in Buddhas care. A few days later when Angulimal was collecting his alms as an ascetic, he met a boy whose father he had killed many years back. He felt depressed and hopeless. When Buddha inquired as to the cause of his depression, Angulimal said, I am a sinner. My hands are stained with blood. I have no hope. Buddha said, Repentance is the only fire to burn the sins already committed. You are on the right path. Angulimal came to his senses. One day people recognized Angulimal on the streets as he was out as an ascetic. They thought it to be his new trick and to beat him. Angulimal did not fight back. Later he dragged his halfdead body to the monastery where Buddha received him. He died on Buddhas lap saying, Father, I am at last at peace with the world. Buddha, later commented that Angulimal was a great soul. He had conquered vice, cruelty and anger. He had attained Nirvana (the Eternal Truth).
Dont worry Aruni! We will take care of the breach, said the disciples. Never mind my son! You are more precious than the crop, said the teacher. Aruni was covered in a blanket and brought home. Sage Dhoumya himself tended to Aruni. The sage then blessed his disciple with pride, You shall, forever, be renowned for your unmatched devotion and obedience to your guru.
King Prasenajit, the ruler of Kosala (was located on the northeast of modern Uttar Pradesh, India), was a disciple of Buddha. Shravasti was his capital. He respected the principle of nonviolence that Buddha taught. One day, his royal priest Garg, came to him in distress. An astrologer had predicted that his newly born son was to become a robber and would be a menace to society. What should be done? asked Garg. The king asked Garg to educate his son well hoping that he may turn out to be a good citizen despite the astrologers forecast. The son was named Ahimsaka, meaning a person who favors nonviolence. Ahimsaka proved to be very intelligent and was interested in learning the scriptures. When he was in his teens, he expressed his desire to go to Takshashila, a renowned educational center. His father agreed and Ahimsaka joined one of the most renowned teachers at Takshashila. Soon he became the most favored disciple of the teacher (guru). The teacher was so impressed by Ahimsakas performance that he told his other disciples to follow Ahimsakas footsteps. This made them jealous and they jointly made a heinous plan to turn the teacher against Ahimsaka. The teacher

- Mantras made easy by Swamiji Sri Selvam Siddhar The Yoga of the Mind, a mantra is a syllable, word or phrase in one of the sacred languages (like Sanskrit & Ghurmeki) and sometimes in English, which elevates or modifies consciousness through its meaning, the sound itself, rhythm, tone, and even the reflexology of the tongue on the palate. There are two things you can do to make the use of a mantra more powerful, regardless of how you recite. One is to see the mantra, as if it is being written as you say it, and the other is to actively listen to it as you say it, perhaps, in this case, when using the first two languages. Some of the most frequently used mantras are given below: AD GURAY NAMEH, JUGAD GURAY NAMEH, SAT GURAY NAMEH, SIRI GURU DEVAY NAMEH is the Mangala Charn Mantra, and is chanted for protection. It surroundsthe magnetic field with protective light, and means I bow to the primal Guru (guiding consciousness who takes us to GodRealization), I bow to wisdom through the ages, I bow to True Wisdom, I bow to the great, unseen wisdom. ADI SHAKTI, ADI SHAKTI, ADI SHAKTI, NAMO NAMO, SARAB SHAKTI, SARAB SHAKTI, SARAB SHAKTI, NAMO NAMO, PRITHUM BHAGAWATI, PRITHUM BHAGAWATI, PRITHUM BHAGAWATI, NAMO NAMO, KUNDALINI, MATA SHAKTI, MATA SHAKTI, NAMO, NAMO. The First Shakti Mantra tunes into the frequency of the Divine Mother, and to primal protective, generating energy. Chanting it eliminates fears and fulfils desires. Adi Shakti means the Primal Power, Sarab Shakti means All Power, and Prithum Bhagawati means which creates through God. AKAL, MAHA KAL: means Undying, Great death is a powerful lifegiving chant removing fear and relaxing the mind. Karma 48

I use this phrase both literally and figuratively. By actually keeping your head up, smiling at people as they walk by, and keeping aware of your surroundings, you may notice something or meet someone that you potentially could have missed had your head been down. When to use: During a break up, when you feel let down by someone, or when you feel betrayed or mistrust. 2. Go slowly. With everything. Eating. Talking. Taking a shower. Driving. Even having sex. I noticed when I was superstressed out about things, I had a tendency to run around like a lunatic, doing several things at once, often times having to retrack my steps because I was so distracted that I left several things out. I found that my projects, errands, and even my conversations with people became very watered down because I was rushing just to finish. Now, whenever I feel like Im rushing to just get things done, I slow down my pace, take a deep breath, and take my time with whatever it is I am rushing to do. When we slow down, we can taste all the flavors in our food and we digest our meals better. We are better communicators when we talk slower, and we become better listeners. Accidents? They wouldnt happen as much if we werent in such a rush to get somewhere. Its quality over quantity. When to use: When you are in a rush on the highway, when youre rushing out to get lunch, or walking around the office, when you feel pressure from deadlines, or while youre annoyed sitting in traffic. 3. Be easy. Or in other words, dont sweat the small stuff. I realized that most of the issues that were giving me anxiety were completely out of my control, and they were usually things that wouldnt matter five years, five months or even five minutes from the time. Like freaking out that I didnt have something to wear to a party, or stressing that Id mess up choreography while teaching a class. I learned to not get so worked up over the small things, stressing about matters that, in the end, really didnt make a difference. So, if you find yourself getting road rage from the guy that cut you off on the highway, let him be. Why get angry and stress yourself out over it? Just be easy.

Did someone on the train bump you as they walked by? Who cares? The cab is packed; it wasnt her fault. Be easy. When to use: When its 1 AM and youre wide awake in bed, thinking about the next days to do list, when you spill on your new white tank top, or when the copy machine at work jams. Be easy. There are far worse things in life. 4. Let Sirena be Sirena (swap out my name with yours). Most of us wear masks. And most of us are afraid to be ourselves, simply out of fear of judgment. We take jobs we dont really care for, stay in relationships we dont genuinely love, and pretend to be someone different for everybody else. I was thereI stayed in a relationship far longer than I should have and I avoided confronting my sexuality because I was so afraid of being judged. And Im telling you, its a heck of a lot easier to just be you whatever that means, whenever, wherever. While youre too busy making yourself appear to be someone else, you kill yourself from the inside out. And it can be a long, slow and painful death to your soul.
Bottom line? Accept yourself for who you are, and just be you. This was the hardest lesson for me to accept, but the one that has given me the greatest clarity and direction in life. When to use: Times when you are questioning yourself, when you feel outside pressure to do/be/say/act in a way that is not congruent with your true nature, or when you hold back from doing what you truly want to do because youre afraid of being judged. Since my sabbatical from life, which is what Ive now jokingly nicknamed this year of despair I described earlier, I have made some dramatic and positive changes. I have a job that I absolutely love, I am on track to pay off all of my debt by the end of this year, and I have accumulated a solid amount in my savings. Ive also rekindled past friendships and made some awesome new relationships, while becoming grounded and confident in who I am. These mantras helped me get to this point. Having them has been an effective trick to help me stay positive and on track. What phrase does that for you?
Please, please make sure that the priest performs this prayer. I am not going to scare you but if this prayer is not performed then many lives (generally) 5 lives will be lost within the family within that one year... many Hindus take Panchak lightly and when problems arise then the family is put through so much of hardship when it could have been avoided... if the deceased died on Panchak then on the funeral day please INSIST on the Panchak Shanti puja if the priest doesnt want to perform it. You rather delay the funeral then having problems later on... those that know me know I dont like to scare people but in these cases I am dead (no pun intended) serious. Dont mess the with the dead. With regards to Panchak there are specific instructions given in our scriptures esp the Garuda Purana (Preta Khand Chapter 10) that are to be performed upon the dead body just before cremation. Five Putales (forms) made from Kusha grass are to be placed, accompanied by Mantras chanted by the presiding Pundit, the first on the head, the second and third one on each side of the stomach, the fourth on the navel and the fifth and last one between the feet of the deceased. Then the Claimant offers 5 offerings of ghee into the fire for the 5 Nakshatras to appease them.

The 15 Nityas are modifications of Lalita as red goddess with her three gunas and her five elements of aether, air, fire, water and earth. As the moon remains itself, though appearing differently according to phase, so too does Lalita. Each Nitya has her own vidya (that is mantra), yantra and group of energies (Shaktis). Their names appear in the first chapter of Vamakeshvara Tantra. Gopinath Kaviraj, a renowned scholar of tantra in the first half of this century, describes the Kalachakra and the Nityas succinctly in the introduction to the Sanskrit edition of Yogini Hridaya. (Sarasvati Bhavana Granthamala, 1963): What the Bhavanopanishad says implies that the Human Body is to be conceived as the Sri Cakra, being the expression of ones own self. (Svatma). This means that while on the one hand the Body is to be regarded as non-different from the atma, the entire cosmic system associated with the body should also be viewed in the same light. This outer system in its manifestation rests on Time (kala), Space (deha) and a combination of the two. The exponents of the School hold that the well known fifteen Kalas of the Moon, representing the 15 lunar tithis, are to be regarded as identical with the fifteen Nityas (Kameshvari to Citra). The sixteenth Kala called Sadakhya should be viewed as one with Lalita or the Supreme Deity Herself. In other words, one has to feel that what appears in Kalacakra is nothing but an expression of what exists eternally as Nityas in the supreme Sri Cakra itself. The tithicakra or the wheel of time is constantly revolving and the Sri Cakra is within it and not without. It should also be remembered that from the standpoint of an esoteric yogin the tithis are in the last analysis to be identified with the 21600 shvasas supposed to be the average number of breaths per day of a normal human being. Hence Lalita or Tripurasundari is the 16th day or full moon, with her 15 digits. Each of the Nityas has a certain number of arms, the totality of arms (= rays) of the whole circle being 108. Because any unit of time is taken
( The Only Atharva Vedic Swamiji in the American Continent) The chakra of the letters of the alphabet is based upon time and so is identical with the sidereal zodiac. - Tantraraja Tantra The Nityas or Eternities of Lalita represent the fifteen lunar days or tithis of the waxing Moon. Each has her own yantra, mantra, tantra and prayogas or ritual applications. The full circle of the Nityas also represents the 21,600 breaths a human being takes in a full day and night. As such, the Nityas are the Kalachakra, or Wheel of Time. The information in this section is drawn from a number of tantras including the Tantraraja, the Dakshinamurti Samhita and the Jnanarnava Tantra, as well as the Kalpasutra, which seems to be the primary source. Readers will also find it useful to refer to Sir John Woodroffes digest of the Tantraraja(Ganesh & Co, 1971), although here he fails to give sufficient idea of the number of prayogas (magical rites) associated with the Nityas. Yantras and mantras, where given, are drawn from Tantraraja, although it is necessary to point out that the Dakshinamurti Samhita gives somewhat different versions. You can find larger versions of the yantras according to the Tantrarajatantraon this page.
as a microcosm or parallel of any other valid unit, each of the fifteen Nityas thus has 1,440 breaths (see Bhavanopanishad). This identity between space, time, Tripurasundari and the individual is elaborated at great length and with considerable sophistication by the author of the Tantraraja. According to that text, the Nityas are the vowels of the Sanskrit alphabet and are identical with both time and space. For example, if the number of tattvas or consonants (36) are multiplied by the 16 Nityas the number of letters is 576. The multiples of this number provide the number of years in the different Yugas. So the circle of the matrikas and the Nityas is identical with the sidereal zodiac as well as mantra. This theme is further elaborated in the 28th chapter of the same tantra, where Shiva says that in the centre of the world is the Meru, outside of this being the seven oceans and beyond this the Kalachakra or wheel of time which moves in a clockwise direction by the power of Iccha (Will) Shakti. The circle is divided by 12 spokes and the planets or grahas are within this. Lalita, says the tantra, is in the Meru, while 14 Nityas from Kameshvari to Jvalamalini reside in the seven islands and seven oceans. Chitra, who is the 16th Nitya, occupies supreme Space or Paramavyoma. In the Dakshinamurti Samhita, the Nityas are identified with kalas or parts of the different stages of deep sleep, dreaming, waking, and full consciousness or Turiya. Here it is said that the Nityas, including Lalita, are the 16 parts of the continuum of consciousness, while the 17th Kala is beyond all of this. Each of the Nityas has the respective vowel letter associated with her mantra vidya. Vowels Moon Consonants Sun Ya etc. Fire Sha etc Fire 16 Petals Fire Eight petals Fire Three lines Fire Visarga Trikona Bindu Bindu Visargabindu Deep Sleep 14 spokes Prameya Waking Two 10s Pramana Dream Eight spokes Pramata Fourth Four lines Waking Pramata Dream Pramana Deep Sleep Prameya Blossoming universal place, Kriya Non blossoming place, Jnana Mahabindu Place of Samarasa
colours for the attainment of different ends. In daily worship (puja) of the Nityas, each has her own nyasa and ritual sequence and they are to receive puja on the lunar days associated with them. The vidya mantras of the different Nityas below are prefaced by Aim Hrim Shrim bija mantras and suffixed with Shri Padukam Pujayami Tarpayami Namah, that is Hail. I worship and libate the auspicious lotus feet [of the appropriate Nitya]. The yantras used below are those from the Tantraraja while the Sanskrit syllables are the vowel letters associated with each Nitya and day of the Moon. The images embedded in the text above are taken from a sadhakas manuscript of the 1,000 names of Lalita. Kameshvari Nitya The first Nitya in the cycle is Kameshvari, a name which means Lady of Desire. Her vidya (mantra) according to the Tantrarajatantra, is Aim Hrim Shrim Am Aim Sa Ka La Hrim Nityaklinne Madadrave Sauh Am Kameshvari Nitya Shri Padukam Pujayami Tarpayami Namah. The same tantra gives her dhyana or meditation image as red like 10 million dawn suns, having a diadem of rubies, wearing throat ornaments, necklaces, waistchains and rings. She is red, has six arms and three eyes, and bears a crescent Moon, smiling softly. She holds a bow of sugar cane, flowering arrows, noose, goad, and a nectar-filled begemmed cup, showing the mudra of bestowing boons. The five arrows of desire (Kama) in the five petals are Longing, Maddening, Kindling, Enchanting and Wasting. These five Kamas are five forms of Kamadeva, Lalita as Krishna, who are Kamaraja (Hrim), Manmatha (Klim), Kandarpa (Aim), Makara (Blum) and Manobhava (Strim) with the colours yellow, white, red, purple and blue. Each of the Kamadevas has two eyes and two arms, the hands holding sugar cane bow and flowering arrows, the very form of the five elements. Bhagamalini Nitya Nitya Bhagamalini, whose name refers to the flowering yoni, is the second of the cycle of the waxing Moon and has a remarkable and very long vidya (mantra) which runs:
Similar ideas are found in the Matrikachakra Viveka, as in the table above, drawn from the Sanskrit introduction to the 1934 Government Sanskrit College of Benares edition, which classifies the nine mandalas of the Shri Yantra according to Pramana - means of knowledge, Pramata - the subject, and Prameya - the object and relates the different states of consciousness to the yantra. See Tattvas on this site. According to theTantraraja, the 15 Nityas are limbs or rays of Lalita, who is herself pure consciousness without additions. Varahi andKurukulla bear the relationship of father and mother respectively. The Nityas themselves can be meditated upon and worshipped in different forms and

She has six arms, three eyes, sits on a lotus and holds in her left hands a night water lily, a noose and a sugar cane bow and in her right a lotus, a goad and flowering arrows. Around her is a host of Shaktis all of whom look like her, according to the Tantrarajatantra. The Dakshinamurti Samhita has a different image (dhyana). Here (chapter 41), she is described as dwelling in the middle of a flowery forest, adorned with various gems, holding noose, goad, book, scales, nail (?) and writing implement, showing the mudras or hand gestures of allaying fears and bestowing boons. Her yantra is described differently, too, as triangle, hexagon, 16 petals, eight petals, then the bhupura or fence. Nityaklinna Nitya Her name means Wet Nitya, or Always Wet. The third Nityas mantra is Aim Hrim Shrim Nityaklinne Madadrave Svaha im Nityaklinna Nitya Shri Padukam Pujayami Tarpayami Namah. She is surrounded by 19 Shaktis, according to the Tantraraja, who are Kshobhini, Mohini, Lila, Nitya, Niranjana, Klinna, Kledini, Madanatura, Madadrava, Dravini, Vidhana, Madavila, Mangala, Manmatharta, Manashvini, Moha, Amoda, Manomayi, Maya, Manda and Manovati. The Nityaklinna herself, the same tantra says, is restless with desire, smeared with red sandal paste, wears red clothes, smiles, has a half moon on her head, and holds noose, goad, cup and makes the mudra dispelling fear. The Dakshinamurti Samhita (chapter 42) gives her root mantra as being of 11 syllables, Hrim Nityaklinna Madadrave Svaha. The image is similar except that she holds a noose, a goad, a skull and dispels fears. Her face is bathed in sweat and her eyes move with desire. Here the yantra is described as trikona, eight petals, and earth square (bhupura). She bestows enjoyment and liberation and subdues the three worlds for one siddha (successful) in her vidya (mantra). Bherunda Nitya Bherunda, the fourth Nitya, has three eyes and eight arms, with her body the colour of molten gold, wearing beautiful ornaments on her hands, feet, arms and around her waist. She smiles sweetly with her hands holding noose, goad, shield, sword, mace, thunderbolt (vajra), bow and arrow. The vidya mantra is: Aim Hrim Shrim Im Om Krom Bhrom Kraum Jhmraum Cchraum Jraum Svaha Im Bherunda Nitya Shri Padukam Pujayami Tarpayami Namah, says Tantraraja.
Using her mantra destroys poison. The DS describes her yantra as being triangle, eight petals and bhupura. In the triangle are Shikhini, Nilakanthi and Raudri. Bherunda, according to this source, rules the Vetalas. The vidya mantra also differs. Vahnivasini Nitya Vahnivasini is the sixth Nitya (Eternity) in the cycle, her name meaning the dweller in fire. Her mantra is Om Hrim Vahnivasiniyai Namah. The Shaktis in the eight trikonas are Jvalini, Visphulingini, Mangala, Sumanohara, Kanaka, Ankita, Vishva and Vividha. In the 12 petals are the 12 signs of the Hindu (sidereal)zodiac. Her description in the Tantraraja Tantrais as a beautiful young woman, the colour of gold, with eight arms, dressed in yellow silk garments, adorned with rubies. She holds a red lotus, a conch, a bow of red sugarcane and the full moon in her left hands; in her right a white water lily, golden horn, flowery arrows and a citron. Around her are numberless Shaktis who look like her. She is the dweller in fire who devours the universe. Mahavajreshvari Nitya Her vidya-mantra is Um Hrim Klinne Aim Krom Nityamadadrave Hrim Um Mahavajreshvari Nitya Shri Padukam Pujayami Tarpayami Namah. She is described in the Tantraraja as having four arms, three eyes, garmented in red, red in colour, wearing red jewels and strewn with red flowers, wearing a crown of rubies. She sits on a throne on a golden boat which floats on an ocean of blood, and holds noose, goad, sugar cane bow and flowering arrows. She is surrounded by a host of Shaktis similar to her and sways while she smiles mercifully.
The description in the DS differs. Here, she is described as resembling the china rose, wearing red clothes, and holding noose, goad, skull and dispelling fear. She is swaying from having drunk pure wine. The yantra here is described as having a triangle, four petals, eight petals and a bhupura. Duti Nitya According to Nityotsava, an expansion of theKalpasutras, the vidya-mantra of Shivaduti Nitya is Aim Hrim Shrim Shivadutyai Namah Shivadutinitya Shri Padukam Pujayami Tarpayami Namah. She is called Shivaduti because she makes Shiva her messenger (Duti). The Tantraraja describes her as being dressed in red, with nine jewels in her crown, surrounded by Rishis singing her praises and having eight arms and three eyes. She looks as bright as the summer sun at midday and smiles sweetly. Her hands hold horn, shield, mace, cup, goad, cleaver, axe and lotus. Tvarita Nitya Tvarita is the ninth Nitya (Eternity) in the cycle. Also called Totala Devi. She is called Tvarita (Swift) as She grants fruit to the sadhaka quickly. She is of auspicious form, in the first flush of youth, and dark in colour. She has 3 eyes and 4 hands and Her beautiful lotus- like face smiles gently. She is clad in new leaves. She is adorned with 8 fierce and great serpents of 4 kinds, and with waist chains and anklets. On Her head is a crystal crown with a crest of peacock feathers. Her arms are adorned with bangles made of beautiful peacock feathers. She has an umbrella and a banner made of peacock feathers. She wears strings of (red) gunja berries around Her throat, and Her breasts are smeared with red sandal and kumkum. She holds noose, goad, dispels fear, and grants boons. In front of this Goddess is a black servant carrying a mace, who is worshipped for the attainment of the desired fruit. On either side of Her are Her two Shaktis Jaya (conquering) and Vijaya (Victorious) who are like Her and who carry and swing gold canes. The 8 Serpents are: Ananta & Kulika, fiery in colour, each with 1000 hoods, Her ear ornaments. Vasuki & Shankhapala, yellow in colour, each with 700 hoods, Her upper arm bangles. Takshaka & Mahapadma, blue in colour, each with 500 hoods, Her girdle. Padma & Kartataka, white, each with 300 hoods, Her toe ornaments. Her Shaktis are Humkari, Khechari, Chandi, Chedini, Kahepani, Strikari, Dumkari, Kahemakari -- these are similar to the Lokapalas, and the Shaktis in the 8 petals of the yantra. Her mantra is Om Hrim Hum Khe Ca Che Ksah Strim Hum Kse Hrim Phat. Tvarita Puja Taking up a position facing East, and having done three pranayamas, one should do the following Nyasa: Hail to the Rishi Saura on the head: Hail to the Metre Virat on the mouth: Hail to the Devi Tvarita Nitya in the heart: Hail to the Bija Om in the genitals: Hail to the Shakti Hum on the feet: Hail to

the Linchpin Kse on the navel. Then making the anjali gesture near the heart one should do the following Nyasa: Cm Khe Ca to the heart Namah: Ca Cche to the head Svaha: Cche Ksah to the peak Vasat: Ksah Stri to the armour Hum: Stri Hum to the 3 eyes Vaushad: Hum Kse to the Missile Phat. Then one should do the Tvarita Nyasa: (Head) Hrim Om Hrim Namah: (Forehead) Hrum Hum Hrim Namah: (Throat) Hrim Khe Hrim Namah: (Heart) Hrim Ca Hrim Namah: (Navel) Hrim Cche Hrim Namah: (Muladhara) Hrim Ksah Hrim Namah: (Thighs) Hrim Stri Hrim Namah: (Knees) Hrim Hum Hrim Namah: (Legs) Hrim Kse Hrim Namah: (Feet) Hrim Phat Hrim Namah: End with a diffusion. After placing the yantra in front of you, visualise Devi Tvarita in the heart. Take Her to the head, resolve to do Her puja, place the flower on the yantra centre. Worship the triple Guru line first, as being in the three circles, then Devis servitor who is in the west of the Yantra. Worship Jaya and Vijaya on both sides of the door. Worship Humkari, Khecari, Canda, Cchedini, Ksepini, Strikari, Dumkari, Ksemakari in the eight petals. Tvarita Devi in the centre. Kulasundari Nitya Her vidya-mantra is given as Aim Hrim Shrim Aim Klim Sauh Kulasundari Nitya Shri Padukam Pujayami Tarpayami Namah. She has twelve arms and six faces, says the Tantraraja. In her right hands she holds coral mala (rosary), lotus, a gem-studded pitcher, drinking cip, lemon and displays the exposition mudra. Her left hands hold book, red lotus, golden pen, garland of gems, conch shell with the last showing the boon mudra, according to the same tantra. Around her are hostes of Kinnaras, Yakshas, Devas and Gandharvas. The letters of the vidya Aim Klim Sauh comprise the Tripura bulb which is the united state of knower, knowledge and object
of knowledge; the three humours of Vata, Kapha and Sleshma; and Fire, Sun and the Moon. According to the DS (chapter 48), Kulasundari is identical with Bala and placed in the Eastern lion-seat. Nitya Nitya The Kalpasutras version of Nitya Nityas mantra runs Ha Sa Ka La Ra Daim Ha Sa Ka La Ra Dim Ha Sa Ka La Ra Dauh Nitya Nitya Shri Padukam Pujayami Tarpayami Namah. The Tantraraja describes her as like the dawn sun, ruling the Shaktis of the bodily dhatus (Dakini, Shakini, Rakini &c), dressed in red clothes and wearing rubies. She has three eyes and 12 arms and holds in her hands noose, white lotus, sugar cane bow, shield, trident, and favour mudra, goad, book, flowering arrows, sword, skull, mudra dispelling fear. Nilapataka Nitya Her name means Sapphire Banner and her mantra is Aim Hrim Shrim Phrem Strum Krom Am Klim Aim Blum Nityamadadrave Hum Phrem Hrim Em Nilapataka Nitya Shri Padukam Pujayami Tarpayami Namah. The Tantraraja says that she is nila (sapphire) in hue with five faces and ten arms, wearing red clothes and beautiful gems. Her left hands show noose, banner, shield, horn bow, and the mudra granting gifts. Her right hands show goad, dart, sword, arrows and the mudra banishing fear. She sits on a lotus surrounded by hordes of Shaktis like her. She rules the Yakshinis and the 64 Chetakas and has an uncanny collection of siddhis or magical powers to grant to her sadhaka or sadhika including a sword unbeatable in battle (Khadga siddhi), Treasure, the power to see through walls (Anjana), the ability to travel miles in an instant (Paduka Siddhi) and lots, lots more. Vijaya Nitya She brings victory in battle and success in buying and selling, hence her name, Victorious. According to Nityotsava, her vidya mantra is Aim Hrim Shrim Bha Ma Ra Ya Aum Aim Vijaya Nitya Shri Padukam Pujayami Tarpayami Namah. According to the DS she has one head and 10 arms and wears a garland of human skulls but the dhyana or meditation image in theTantraraja differs from this. There
she has five heads and 10 arms which hold conch, noose, shield, bow, white lily, discus, goad, arrows and lemon. Sarvamangala Nitya Her name means all auspicious and her vidya mantra is Aim Hrim Shrim Svaum Om Sarvamangala Nitya Shri Padukam Pujayami Tarpayami Namah. She has two arms and one head, sits on her lotus yantra and has eyes which represent the sun and the moon, while she smiles sweetly. In her right hand she holds a citron and with the left shows the boon-giving mudra. All her 76 attendants surround her, they are solar, lunar and fiery. She rules over the kalas (parts or digits) of the sun (12), the moon (16) and fire (10). This numbers 38 and her attendants are doubled because each is with her consort. Jvalamalini Nitya Her name means garlanded with flames and her mantra, according to Tantrarajatantra, is Om namo bhagavati Jvalamalini devadevi sarvabhutasamharakarike jatavedasi jvalanti jvala jvala prajvala prajvala Hrim Hrim Hum Ram Ram Ram Ram Ram Ram Ram Jvalamalini Hum Phat Svaha. As the Nitya of flame, she is surrounded by Shaktis, each of whom resembles her and she herself has a body of flaming fire, with six faces and 12 arms. Each of her faces, each with three eyes, smile sweetly. Her 12 hands hold noose, goad, arrow, mace, tortoise, spear, flame and she shows two mudras granting boons and dispelling fear. The DS gives a different yantra to the Tantraraja, with one of the mandalas having forty rather than 32 petals. The Shaktis and her description also show variants. She is described as sitting on a lion-seat, and holds different weapons which include the damaru drum and a jar of wine. Chitra Nitya The last Nitya in the cycle is Chitra, whose mantra is Aim Hrim Shrim Ckaum Am Chitra Nitya Shri Padukam Pujayami Tarpayami Namah. Her name means variegated and she wears a silk garment of different colours, has four arms, one head and holds noose, goad, and shows the gestures granting boons and dispelling fears.

Chapter 8 Continues the topic and deals with recitation of mantra (japa) and sacrifice (homa) to the Kumaris. The hymn to the Kumaris is also given along with details of oblations. Chapter 9 Gives the Kumari Kavacha (armour) which follows the usual form of these charms, for example: Maharaudri and Aparajita,. protect my throat! The recitation of the armour is said to bring siddhi quickly. It may be written on bhurja (birch) bark and borne on the body, when it will give the practitioner the desired results. The text gives times for doing this including on a Saturday or a Tuesday on the ninth, eighth, fourteenth days of a waning moon or on a full moon day. Chapter 10 Concludes the subject of the Kumaris. Anandabhairava asks the goddess to tell him about the 1008 names of the Kumaris, which Anandabhairavi proceeds to do. The seer of the names is Vatukabhairava, anushtubh is the metre, Kumara is the devata and the application is success in all mantras. The names follow the order of the 36 consonants of the Sanskrit alphabet. Various results are described depending on the number of days the names are recited. Chapter 11 Bhairavi opens this chapter by talking, once more, about the three bhavas. She describes the different characteristics of divyas, viras and pashus. The best type of sadhaka is a divya, who obtains the highest siddhi. Both divyas and viras practise using the five tattvas. At the close of this chapter, the Devi lists a series of chakras she will discuss. Chapters 12,13, 14 She describes the Kamachakra, the Rashichakra, results of the Ajnachakra and the Nakshatra chakra. These include the placing of the letters according to positions of the 12 constellations (the tantriks use a sidereal zodiac) and the 27 nakshatras or lunar mansions. Different letters of the alphabet are placed in the different compartments and the chapters describe the different results obtained by worshipping in these yantras. Chapter 15 Anandabhairava asks the goddess to tell him about the nature of the Brahmastotra, the Brahmavidya and the macrocosm. (Brahmasharira). This chapter is related to the description of the Ajnachakra. She says that this is like the vital air in the body of Shakti. One should meditate on the Brahmananda in the heart to become a true knower. Shakti is Kundalini Devi, the true form of the mother of the world. The vital breath (of Shakti) pervade the macrocosm, including constellations, nakshatras, and lunar days. Practising according to the rules she describes gives the state of Khechara in one month, a diamond body in two, &c. Eventually a sadhaka becomes one with Supreme Shiva by a knowledge of the vital airs. Shiva asks who is a Vaishnava (follower of Vishnu), who is a Dharmika (a doer of that which is right) and who is a Yogi. The goddess says a Vaishnava is stationed in the Ajna chakra. One who does a sacrifice (a yajnika) is stationed in Brahma consciousness. A Dharmika has realised his oneness
with Brahman and is a rejector (tyagi) of both good (dharma) and bad (adharma). One who knows the Brahman is an avadhuta and a yogi, can do as she or he wills and is not restricted by times or any other conditions. He or she is unaffected by results or lack of results. The avadhuta knows the parampada (supreme). Because the avadhuta has realised the supreme nectar of Kundalini in the Ajna Chakra, she or he is praised by Rudra and all the gods. These tantrik precepts show an aversion to the orthodox expression of the Hindu terms as usually applied. Chapter 16 Continues the discussion of Ajna Chakra. This is a brief section of only 44 verses (shlokas), continuing the praise of a person who has reached this stage. Chapter 17 An interesting chapter because it describes the characteristics of theAtharva Veda, to which some tantrik schools ascribe their vedik credentials, and, later on, apparently recommends the adoption of Buddhistic practises (Mahachinachara) to achieve enlightenment. The goddess first says the Atharva Veda is the essence of all and focuses on the path of Shakti. She describes the Sama Veda as being of the nature of the tamas guna, while the others partake of sattvas and rajas guna. Brahma, Vishnu and Hara are of the nature of rajas, sattvas and tamas while Kundali, associated with the Atharva, is the supreme devata. The text proceeds with a eulogy of the goddess, describing her as the form of knowledge, the supreme aether, and she who gives grace and success on earth. She is Kamarupa in the Muladhara chakra and is always united with Shiva-Kameshvari in the 1,000 petal lotus. Bhairava then wants to know about the different vital breaths in the body. Anandabhairavi speaks about this topic at great length. She describes the pitha Kamarupa as being in the Muladhara, Jalandhara in the heart chakra, Purnagiri is in the throat, Varanasi is in the forehead and Jvalanti is in the (three) eyes. Other locations of the great pithas are given. The goddess says that the chakras have four, six, 10, 12, 16 and two petals respectively. The Brahmarandhra, at the top of the head, is known as (Mount) Kailasa and is known as the 1,000 petalled lotus and the Great Lotus (mahapadma). Millions of nadis pervade the body. The subtle breaths pervade these. When they are merged together (laya) it brings steadiness of mind using kumbhaka and other methods, again described in some detail. In verse 108, the tantra begins a remarkable story. It speaks of Vashishta, describing him as being engaged for a long period of time in pursuing sadhana, restraining himself and practising austerities (tapasa). Despite 1,000 years of this, he had not achieved his goal. He had a vision of Sarasvati in which he was told to go to the land of Buddha (buddhadesha), to Mahachina, a non-vedik place, where he would achieve what he wanted. Going to the region of the Brahmaputra, he discovered hosts of men and women apparently engaged in non-Vedik practises, swilling wine, eating flesh and engaging in sexual intercourse. All were naked, their eyes reddened with liquor. Yet all were enlightened. Going to Buddha, Vashishta asked how this could be. Buddha is made to reply: Vashishta, listen! I will speak of
the highest path of Kula by knowing which a man takes the form of Rudra immediately! He then speaks of the practice of Mahachinachara. By this method, all the Hindu gods became enlightened. More details of the Mahachinachara come in the Brihadnila Tantra(chapter seven):Bathing and so forth is done mentally, purifying celestial gaze is done mentally, so too is clothing and recitation of mantra. Resolution (samkalpa) and so forth and puja are also done mentally. All times are good, there is no time that is not good at all. There is no difference between day and night, nor of twilights and great nights. One should do everything mentally, including clothes, seat, place, temple, body, wine. One should
never do purifying here and act mentally, free of distinctions. There is no need here for purashcharana (prior actions), nor for considering faults of mantras and so forth. The mantrin who meditates thus obtains the fruit of all that is desired. [VII, 103107] The Mahachinakrama, it emerges, is sexual intercourse with an initiated Shakti. If you are able to offer water on a shiv ling. If you cannot, do so daily. This is a kavach, which was kept as a wellguarded secret and given only to the best disciple who was the inheritor. Gurudev says that he got this kavach from swami bodhtray ji. This kavach destroys all sins, and protects from all evil no matter what the evil is. It nullifies the sins of the past and present life and there is no untimely death. Again a trader chanted this when his son was given maximum 24 hrs more because of cancer, and he recovered and is well and lives in dhanbaad. There are 1000 letters in this kavach so the name sahastraakshar, amogh means achook ie. which never fails. The trader then distributed copies of this kavach for an year as a thanks giving.
