Susan Sarandon to receive career achievement award at Chicagos 41st International Film Festival
WHO: Academy award winning actress Susan Sarandon will receive a special career achievement award at the Opening Night Gala 41st Chicago International Film Festival. Sarandon will attend the U.S. premiere of Elizabethtown, staring the actress along with Orlando Bloom, Claire Danes and Alec Baldwin. WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 6. Sarandon will make a red carpet arrival at 7 p.m. Followed by award presentation on-stage at 7:30 p.m. The festival will run until Oct. 20. WHAT: The 41st Chicago International Film Festival will include 101 feature films and 42 short films from 34 countries. It will include three world premieres, 11 North American premieres and 34 U.S. premieres. The festival, presented by Cinema/Chicago, is the oldest competitive international film festival in North America. WHERE: The Chicago Theater, 211 N. State St. Tickets for the Sarandon event are each $30. Most festival films will be shown at the AMC River East 21 Theatres (322 E. Illinois St.) and Landmark Century Centre Cinema (2828 N. Clark St.). Tickets for general screenings cost $11 for general public and $7 for students with school identification. Tickets may be purchased at theater box offices and select Chicago Boarders bookstores.
