Minutes of a meeting of Hackney Coalition to Save the N.H.S.

Held on Wednesday August 15th 2012 at London Fields Medical Centre 1. Attendance: Ned, Rosemary, Annie, Coral, Bronwen, Ellen, Bill& Christine, David, Nick. 2. Minutes of previous meeting held 11/07/12 2.1 Meeting of Hackney CCG about Patient Public Involvement held July 26th. Gemma had attended. No report available. 2.2 Position of Lay Members (two) for Clinical Commissioning Group. After some discussion Rosemary Sales agreed to apply for the Patient Liaison position. 2.3 Street Stalls. Ellen pointed out that a) it would be worth while publicising these events (i.e. the successful ones!) and b) the planning of them was somewhat haphazard. It was agreed that when stalls resume from Saturday September 8th we will try to plan them several weeks in advance. 3. Public Meeting 3.1 Date: Agreed that this would now be Tuesday October 9 7.30 pm. Please mark your diaries now!! 3.2 Venue: Rosemary has done some hard work looking at various places. It was agreed that the Stoke Newington Town Hall would not be suitable. Rosemary agreed to keep looking at a short list of venues with Abney Hall a good possibility. Nick to liase with Rosemary re venue. [NB: Abney Hall has now been booked as the venue). 3.3 David reported on interest from the City of London Labour Party. They are keen to participate with us in working for the public meeting. 3.4 Speakers. Diane Abbot and / or Andy Burnham: Rosemary to investigate. CCG: Coral to sort out. Social Investigations blogger: Bronwen to speak to. Owen Jones: Rosemary to chase Chair: Bronwen (also speaking as Unite) 3.5 Publicity: Bronwen will work on a leaflet. 4. Basic information leaflet for the public and new campaign members on the new structures brought in by the H& SC act. Rosemary and Annie have done work on this. It was agreed that they would circulate their draft and possibly incorporate some of material from the proposed new leaflet being prepared by Bronwen. 5. Replacement Banner for H.C.S.NHS. Nick has contacted Ed Hall (again ) hopefully work will commence soon. 6. Date of next meeting: Wed September 5th 6.30 pm at London Fields Medical Centre. This meeting is being held earlier than usual so we can organize for the public meeting on 9 October.
