    The appellant, who is presently in judicial custody of Mumbai Central Prison, has sought for details of flights and passengers, who traveled from Mumbai to Goa on 13th and 14th May 2007. The CPIO and the Appellate Authority have replied and furnished partial information while the remaining information, mainly the identity of passengers, has been withheld u / s 8(1)(j) of the Act on the ground that there is no public interest in disclosure of the details of passengers.

    The appeal was scheduled for hearing on 13.1.2010. But, the appellant

    did not avail of the opportunity of personal hearing. The appeal is, therefore, examined on merit.

    The appellant, who is presently in judicial custody of Mumbai Central

    Prison, has sought for details of flights and passengers, who traveled from Mumbai to Goa on 13th and 14th May 2007. The CPIO and the Appellate

    Authority have replied and furnished partial information while the remaining information, mainly the identity of passengers, has been withheld u/s 8(1)(j) of the Act on the ground that there is no public interest in disclosure of the details of passengers. Being dissatisfied with the CPIOs response, the appellant has

    pleaded for disclosure of the list of passengers. Decision:

    The appellant has neither indicated as to how he is affected in the matter

    or what is the public interest in disclosure of the details of passengers, the denial of information u/s 8(1)(j) of the Act is therefore justified.
