Volunteerism in the PDP 2011-2016


The government shall reinforce the practice of volunteerism in the delivery of social services, provision of technical assistance, responding to disaster and undertaking humanitarian efforts, especially in the remote and unserved areas. The sector shall mobilize the talents, expertise, time and energies of volunteers from the academe, corporate sector, NGOs, government and foreign volunteer organizations.

The Way Forward


Volunteerism should not take the place of actions that are the
responsibility of the state Care should be taken not to overprescribe how citizens should engage in volunteerism, it could remove the spontaneity of voluntary action Role of volunteer action should be included in core discussions on development policy and programmes
