Mechanism of action :
Tapentadol is a centrally-acting synthetic analgesic believed to exert its analgesic activity by binding to muopioid() receptors and inhibiting norepinephrine reuptake
Highlight: It appears to be 18 times less potent than morphine in binding to the mu-opioid receptor. Contraindication: Patient with seizures. Hypercapnia or bronchial asthma. GI obstruction including paralytic ileus. Adverse effect: Gastrointestinal : Constipation, Nausea, Vomiting.
