Granite Slab and Tiles are used in building for the purpose of wall panelling and for the decoration of walls. So we focus as the development of building as well as industrial or residential. Moving across the theshold purposes of a glorious past enriched with tradition and skill, India has emerged as nation devoted to industrial development on sound modern lines. India's industrial progress present a wide spread pattern dotted all over by scores of modern industries covering wide areas of industrial activities and pulsating with modern know how and research the wide spread popularity of granite tile usually more evident in major public monumental building of traditional or conversative design. The new user of granite tile are also steadily appearing. So far, for exterior granite is used both structurally and as a veneer, for certain walls, column facing trim, for interior, its uses is even more diversified, for nearly every type of practical and asthetic need. A brief listing of interior uses would include floor, stairs wall facing, column toilet, bathroom etc. and as decorative for many purposes. In all these areas granite is unexelled for endusing beauty and low maintenance. The granite slab and tiles of different sizes having dimension for slap (i) 30cm x 30cm, 40cm x 40cm, 60 x 40cm, 80cm x 40cm, 90cm x 40cm and for tiles dimension is 15cm x 10cm, 20cm x 10cm, 30cm x 10cm and the thickness for slab should be in range of 18mm to 20mm for tiles thickness is 7/8mm. It is also used in the construction of forts temples, palaces, and other building in south India Ancient forts such as the Janjore Foort in Tamilnadu the Golkonda Fort near Hyderabad and Chitradurga and Bellar Forts in Karnataka are impoortant examples of the use of granite. The slatue oof sri Gomateshwari (Bahubali) at shravanbelgoola in Karnataka is an oout standing work-piece in granite. There are many oother temples and places where granite has been used in an act the tically significant manner. Granites are widespread through-out the Archaean tecrain. The Archaeans which are the oldest socks oof the earth's crust occur at the bottom of the stratified formation of the cambrain up words in all countries of the world. Regarding their structure and composition they exhibit similar characteristics enery where. They form the core of all the mountain chain of the world and the

foundation of all its great ancient plain. The rocks of the Archaean system cover several hundred thousand kilometers in India. By far the largest part of the peninsular India is occupied by this ancient crystalline complex. The Archacan system includes Dharwars, Charnockites, Bundelkhand greiss, banded greissic complex, older metamorphics, and basement complex. They occupy wide areas in Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Orissa besides the southern states of Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh Kerala, Tamilnadu and Pandichery. Granite are solidified acid magmas consisting ofo ortho clase quartz and mica and are available in different heat, multi coloured etc. These rocks upon polishing give almost mirror finish and are not effected by dilute acids vagaries of weather and polluted atmosphare. For there stable characteristics granite is in great demand abroad for making movments and tombstones and panels slabs, tiles, etc. Granite Slab and tiles are used in building construction in flooring, wall facing, stairs, column etc and as decorature purpose. The glossy and polished look of these tiles made from natural stones add aesthetic appeal to the rooms. Moreover, because of it's low price, they are very much in vogue now-a-days. The main uses of Granite are : 1. For construction purposes, normally 2 cm thick slabs are used. In some cases even 3 cm slabs are used. 2. A large amount of granite is processed for memorials, monuments, markets, etc., The thickness of the granite in this case will range from 5 cms to 20 cms and in some cases even up to 30 cms. 3. Thin granite tiles having a thickness 8 mm to 12 mm also have a wide spread use in the construction industry. Depending on the use to which the sawn granite will be put, we can decide on the best and most suitable equipment for processing it. The unit may be located in any notified backward area/district growth centre in Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Orissa, Rajasthan or Karnataka, the main granite bearing states in the country, inn the vicinity of granite quarries from the point of view of availability and low transport cost of the raw material-granite blocks.

Every block of quarried granite is generally full of defects flows and impurities. The recovery rate in a goood quarry is just between 5 to 15%. The success rate of quarries itself is about 20% with rest of the 80% of total failure. Therefore advise of expert shouold be taken while selecting sites for minering lease. The unit can also be set up in Rajasthan, if it is noot export oriented. The granite stone found in Rajasthan is nooot warthy ooof ixport because of its slightly inferior quality.

The classification of the various granite is given in `Table' which gives the degree of sawability and indicates the heat and tear of the tool on various granites.
