Plant objective
 To short blasting the surface of
switch gear components to increase
their life after painting
 The first operation was blasting of

surface with grit.

 Since this was the first operation, so

failure of this caused bottleneck in

production
The downtime contribution of the plant
was 8% around 387 hours.
Problems
 Five major assemblies in the first
operation plant were

 Vibrator assemblies
 Chamber

 Regenerator assembly

 Reclaimer

 Control valves

FLOOR
 Floor of chamber called waffle floor
assembly contains small hoppers
each with small hole in bottom
 Perforated steel plate on top of

hopper to form actual floor space

 Duct openings present in floor

hoppers
 Main entry of air was there for each

row
Floor solutions
 Pocket holes of the floor were
cleared
 Duct opening were also thoroughly

cleared
 Main entry was blocked but was not

cleaned was not noticed because of

the side being covered by rubber
sheets
Main Solution
 Cleaning of main air entries for each
rows in the floor area of the chamber

 Main because prior to it

advancements were there but no
results
