IMPORTANT IDEA = INDEPENDENT CLAUSE
EXAMPLES:
The teacher laughed at the crying student. The students worshiped the teacher.
BACK TO REALITY
The teacher laughed at the crying student.
Laughed = a verb (you know this because of the ed ending, which means it is in the past. Thus, it has been conjugated). The teacher = the subject (you know this because it has the article the in front of the word teacher making teacher the subject. When a noun precedes the verb, which is normal English syntax, that noun becomes the subject of the verb).
CONTINUED
The students worshiped the teacher.
Worshiped = a verb (you know this because of the ed ending, which means it is in the past. Thus, it has been conjugated). The students = the subject (you know this because it has the article the in front of the word students making students a noun. When a noun precedes the verb, which is normally English syntax, that noun becomes the subject of the verb).
REPEAT NUMBER 13
The subject of a verb can be either a noun or a pronoun.
You know a word is a noun because it has a, an, or the in front of it. Or It can be made plural (more than one).
quick reminder
When we place a noun in front of a verb, the noun becomes the subject of the verb. (Thats normal English syntax.)
