I am happy to present 4th edition of “Sinchana” News letter. Our institution has
made rapid progress in the past six months. It is accorded ISO 9001:2000

National Seminar on 28th & 29th November 2008
« The “11th ISTE State Level Annual Convention” was
conducted at SIET on 28th & 29th Nov. 2008. The Convention
was inaugurated by Dr.R.Natarajan, Former Chairman,
AICTE, New Delhi & Former Director, IIT, Chennai. The key
note address was given by Dr.N.R.Shetty, President, ISTE,
New Delhi. Dr. C. K. Subbaraya, Chairman, ISTE, Karnataka
Section & Dr. G. P. Prabhukumar, Ex-Chairman, ISTE
Karnataka Section & Principal, AcIT, Bengaluru, were the
Guests of Honour. The Managing Trustee, Dr. M. R. Huli

« Two days Internet awareness programme “Student
Internet World-2008” for Rural High School Students was
conducted on 6th and 8th Nov. 2008. Dr. C. Somashekar, IAS
Tumkur District Commissioner, inaugurated the
programme and the programme was organized in
association with The Ministry of Science and Technology,
Govt. of Karnataka and Department of Public Instruction,
Tumkur. About 1200 students from Pavagada and Sira
taluks were benefitted by the programme.
« Blood donation camp was organized on 24/10/2008 as a
part of “Blood Donation Week” programme. About 150
students donated blood.
« A Passport Mela was conducted in association with
department of Postal Services on 10th and 11th of Nov. 2008
to aid the students and faculties to apply for passport. More
than 400 students utilized the services.
« The Institution applied for ISO certification in the
month of September 2008. A team of 3 members
from BSI Management systems, Bengaluru, under the
chairmanship of Mr. R. K. Nanda kumar, a Lead Auditor
visited the institution on 13th and 14th Dec. 2008 for
checking and verification of the documentation of Quality
Education in the institution. We are very proud to
announce that now SIET is an ISO 9001:2000 Certified
Institution (Certification No. FS-543667) of Quality
Management System.

The Cultural Mela-04 "Sangeethothsava" was Scheduled and
conducted on13/09/2008. The formal function was inaugurated
by the famous Music Director Mr. Hamsalekha, the treasurer of
Desi Education Trust, Mr. Seetharam and Mr. Siddaramaiah, the
former president of Karnataka State Pustaka Pradhikara. Mr.
Hamsalekha addressed the students gathering and inspired them
to take up their goals with total commitment.

« Rock climbing & Rapplling was arranged at Ramanagaram
Hill on 09/07/2008 and 21/09/2008. 49 and 60 students
were participated in the programme respectively.
« Students were taken to Davanagere on 14/09/2008 for
water sports. About 53 students participated.
« A Trip to Wonderla Water Park Bengaluru was arranged on
28/09/2008. About 86 students participated in the
programme.
« Trekking was arranged to Shivaganga hill on 26/10/2008.
About 35 students of first year participated in the
programme.
« Trekking was arranged 0n 30/11/2008 at Siddharabetta hill
and about 26 students were participated.
Movie Club:
Every Saturday Evening Feature films, educational movies and
documentaries are screened for the students. Movies which
create leadership qualities like Chak De India and Lagaan;
Fiction movies like Casino Royal and Phoonk; Action movies like
Blood Spot, wanted and Enter the dragon; entertainment
movies in Kannada, English and Hindi languages were screened.
