Web. 18 Sep 2012 Annotation This site basically discussed how networks portray females and males and how it impacts young viewers. Past research asserts that television legitimizes, glamorizes, and normalizes stereotypes. Women were more disparaging than men when speaking to themselves to someone of their own gender. Males use less graphic about their sexual language. It shows different ways of how females and males are portrayed and it also provides statistics. This site goes in depth about how the popularity of reality television has grown in the past years and has become a favorite amongst the teenage audience. This author pinpoints almost everything that needs to be discussed surrounding reality television on MTV and how it affects teenagers in American society. Quotes Reality first made an appearance in the top 10 rankings in 2000, and since the 2002-2003 season has consistently captured the largest percentage of the audience watching the top 10 broadcast programs. In the 2007-2008 season, reality programming captured 77 percent of the total audience viewing those top 10 programs. This source provides many statistics and studies that can help back up my topic question. This author had a very strong understanding of the material, and I learned a lot of insightful things from this reading. This source was worth my time because the title attracted me and when I read the content of the PDF, it answered a lot of my questions.
