Integrated Mathematics Course 3 Final Semester Project:

DOOMSDAY PREPPERS
As many of us know, certain groups of people believe that the end of the world is near. Several people have their own theory on how it will happen. The purpose of this project is for you to research the probability and rationale of the event of your choice and for you to determine if you will be prepared to survive an apocalypse.
GRADING GUIDELINES: This final semester project will count as a project grade. The score you earn will also be divided by the number of missing projects and distributed evenly. If you do not have any missing projects, then you may add points to any other low project scores (for a maximum of 100 points). DUE DATE: This final project is due on MONDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2012. There will be no exceptions or extensions to this deadline. If a hard copy or email is not submitted before midnight of this date, it will not be accepted under any circumstances (other than a documented emergency). DIRECTIONS: This final project covers all of the topics that we have learned throughout the semester. There are Geometry and Algebra II standards that are addressed. Each question must be answered in complete sentences where applicable. All questions that require calculations must have all work shown. Written responses may be typed or neatly handwritten.

PART ONE: 1 Choose the cause of the apocalypse. (Examples: Zombie Attacks, Nuclear War, Solar Storms, Natural Disaster, Terrorist Attack, or Government Takeover) 2 Develop a persuasive argument that will convince the general public that an apocalypse is imminent. You must research your event and be able to support your claims. Your argument must address the following: a Who? b What? c When? d Where? e Why? f How? 3 Basic Skills Application: Create a statement that summarizes your argument. Rewrite the statement as a conditional, inverse, converse, and contrapositive. Remember to label each statement. (Example: All Mayans believe that the world will end on December 21, 2012.)
