Carlson has served under my supervision as a Resident Assistant for throughout the 2009-10 academic year and was rehired 2010-11. She has been directly responsible for a floor community of 50 female residents in a residence hall of nearly 1000 undergraduate students here at Michgan State University. Taylor has worked with a diverse staff of 31 to plan, develop, and implement educational initiatives and community programs in the core areas of learning, intercultural competence, as well as personal well being and learning. Taylor succeeded in facilitating a positive living/learning environment for her floor communities and assisted her fellow staff members to do the same. Ms. Carlson has handled numerous room/suite and other resident conflicts. On duty rounds Taylor has had to confront her peers for a variety of behavioral concerns; including, but not limited to; alcohol, noise, smoking, drug use, interpersonal conflicts, theft, medical emergencies, etc. Taylor and her fellow staff members have followed protocol, handled each and every situation professionally and involved Senior Staff and Emergency Professionals as necessary. She has been a leader and role model for the students and the staff in Wonders. Ms. Carlson has consistently been the one to step forward and take a leadership role in whatever needed to be accomplished. Ms. Carlson met, if not exceeded, the expectations set forth in every facet of her role as a paraprofessional. Beyond her outstanding performance, I can attest Taylor is a positive, mature, caring individual who genuinely desires to grow and to support others in their own growth and development.
