Musical Objective: The students will sing the correct pitches and use tall vowels when singing the choral music. Students will also learn about what the two songs mean and their function in culture and history. Behavioral-Students will be able to sing through the sections rehearsed of the choral music with 95% accuracy Cognitive-Students will understand how vowels color our singing and how their parts in the piece function in the context of the music as well as in culture and history. Experimental-Students will sing Okuyama Ni and On My Own and speak the text Critical-Students will gain perspective on culture and history by singing Okuyama Ni (Japanese song) On My Own Essential Question: To what extent can vowels change the quality of our singing?

Sequence:
