Supplemental Student Guidance 2006-present Provided supplemental coaching/mentoring to students with questions about the college selection and admission process, completion of financial aid documents (FAFSA), career interest counseling and various post-secondary planning options. Continue to work with many through follow-up after graduation. Member Canaan Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) 2010 2011 academic year At present I am one of two core academic teachers on this committee, which strives to improve the teaching and learning atmosphere within our school community. Areas of CLC focus have been curriculum mapping, schedule restructuring, compilation of staff survey data, and on-going
assessment of student instructional needs. Suggest staff development ideas in alignment with school and district initiatives and teachers needs as communicated to the CLC. Graduation Facilitator 1998 2007 Responsibilities included everything necessary for the complete planning and execution of the schools annual graduation ceremony. Member/chairperson Essex North Standards Board (ENSB) for Professional Educators 1994 2000 Responsibilities included recommending teachers for re-licensure based upon ENSB approved Individual Professional Development Plan and corresponding professional development activities, as well as review and approval or denial of individual professional re-licensing portfolio. During my tenure as chairwoman, I lead the complete re-write and overhaul of the local ENSB Plan of Operation to align with the new Vermont Standards Board for professional Educators guidelines, and the subsequent orientation of the staff to the new procedures. Building Effective Support for Teaching Students with Behavioral Challenges (BEST) Summer Institute, University of Vermont July 1997 Personally recruited by administration to be a part of the team of five that was sent to this institute, resulting in the creation of a new school wide disciplinary guideline program, implemented the following school year; made additional recommendations to the administration for various other changes at the local level. Designed and implemented Jr. High Team Teaching 1996 2000 Collaborated with three other colleagues to create and deliver a cross-curricular middle school humanities/math/science middle school program for a mixture of students in grades 7 and 8. Within the scope of this program I team-taught American History/English with an emphasis on the impact of historic events on young people in various periods of American History. New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) evaluation team Hazen-Union High School November 1996 Team responsibilities were to spend a three-day discovery visit at the host school and evaluate their eligibility for renewal of NEASC accreditation based on standard strands. Interviewed, observed, researched and produced a written report pursuant to my assigned strand Visiting Team Member on Block Scheduling 1995 1996 With three other colleagues, traveled to and presented at several schools considering the conversion to block scheduling. Shared our experiences, answered questions and offered assistance however possible to ease their transition Principal Search Committee 1994-1995 Selected by Superintendent to participate in the interview process for a new principal.
