Meeting with Airtel for SME Promotion

A special meeting with eminent mobile operator Airtel was held in the office of the General Manager, SMESPD, Bangladesh Bank on October 08, 2012 on the promotion of SME activities .The meeting was attended by Mr. Raihan Faiz Osmani, Senior Manager, SME Sales on the part of Airtel and senior officials of SMESPD on the part of Bangladesh Bank. General Manager, SMESPD of Bangladesh Bank, Mr. Sukamal Sinha Chowdhury presided over the meeting. The meeting discussed different avenues of possible cooperation of Airtel in building awareness for SME financing and promoting SME activities.

General Manager, SME, Bangladesh Bank started the meeting by briefly describing Bangladesh Banks objectives and initiatives being performed under leadership of honble Governor Dr. Atiur Rahman. He also informed that we would like to explore areas of cooperation and go further in suitable areas. The meeting discussed on the possible areas of cooperation like providing incentives to the women entrepreneurs under refinance-schemes of Bangladesh Bank, publicity for awareness building and marketing of SME products. Airtel officials praised Bangladesh Banks initiatives for promotion of SME sector and its entrepreneurs. They showed profound interest to work in cooperation with Bangladesh Bank and promised to get back soon with specific proposal by defining the scope and details of promotional activities through Airtel Network.
