Professional Experience

English and Math Consultant, Tiffin University (2011-Present) Provide tutoring services to Ivy Bridge Students in the areas of English, Foundations of Success, mathematics and marketing. Collaborate with a team of professionals assess the students needs and how best to address them. Utilize various technologies such as, Adobe Connect, Voki, Bamboo tablet, Jing and Xtranormal to offer a more enriching online environment. Build relationships with students and assist them in developing a plan for lifelong learning and academic development. Promote online presence by using social media outlet such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Serve as the liaison between tutoring services and library for the development of an online writing center.

Strive Grant Instructor, Owens Community College Adult Basic and Literacy Education Department (2006-2007) Provide impoverished students, ages 16-19, with the fundamental skills necessary to succeed in high school and with the GED examination. Discussed future plans and goal setting with the students. Reviewed life skills necessary to existence after high school and beyond, topics discussed included but not limited to personal finance, resume writing, job searching, housing, and building healthy relationships through a positive communication model. Coordinated major recruitment and retention activities throughout the city. Reformed the retention model to better serve and motivate the students with in the program.

Tutor, Owens Community College Learning Center (2006-2007) Provided empowering mathematics, sociology, reading, writing/composition and ESL (English as a Second Language for students who were preparing for the IELTS exam) coaching, mentoring assistance and wide-spectrum academic service support to the Owens community. Effectively employed the Socratic Method as well as a flexible, interdisciplinary helping approach that combined highly effective humanistic counseling skills with practical, efficient interpersonal communication methods. This method enabled student clients to realize and build upon their individual strengths as well as attain new skills. Tutored students in a wide variety of course and topic areas and helped those students develop and strengthen fundamental academic skills through the use of standardized learning style surveys, study strategies inventories and intensive one-on-one personal tutoring. Developed and presented a broad variety of developmental Study Skills Center seminars and acted as a liaison between the Learning Center and the OCC community.

Lead Mathematics Instructor, Glass City Academy (2003-2004) Taught at-risk 11th and 12th grader remedial to more advance skills such as trigonometry, pre-calculus and statistics, all in the preparation for the Ohio Proficiency Test. Adult Leader, Saint Vincent Mercy Medical Center/Positive Choices Program (1999-2001) Designed and put into action abstinence curricula for 75 underprivileged girls ages 9-17. Coordinated outings, events, and guest speakers to keep the members of the program interested and engulfed in learning. Utilized public speaking skills to deliver thought provoking presentations that kept the girls attention. Recruited and lead 50 volunteers within a 4 month period to offer positive peer influence to the members of the program.
