10.3.3 Interview Conclusion

I get to know some of the rape cases which happened involved young adults are mostly from date rape. Most of the rape survivors are being raped by the person they trust and know (such as their friends, boyfriends). Besides, Jessie does claimed that the reason young adults are being raped is due to the misuse of alcohol and drugs to make an unsuspecting female become sleepy and sedated thus making the female unable to consent to sex. And this mostly happened in night club which there are more advantages for the suspects or perpetrators to rape.

10.4.1 Four Russians guilty of raping Malaysian student Four wealthy Russians who used an iPhone to film themselves gang-raping a Malaysian student at an exclusive private college in London are facing jail Tuesday. The group had been in Britain for just two weeks when they carried out the horrific two-and-ahalf hour attack on the Malaysian teenager at the 30,000-per-year college. The Russians, aged between 19 and 23, gave a sickening running commentary - and even filmed themselves boasting about what they were going to do to her the day before. The prosecution fear that she may have had her drinks spiked as she was too drunk to consent. Oleg Ivanov, 23, Norayr Davtyan, 22, Armen Simonyan, 19, and 23-year-old Gregory Melnikov all denied rape but were unanimously convicted by a jury at Woolwich Crown Court yesterday. Davtyan described the girl as a 'machine' and in the witness box referred to her as a 'sl**'. The court heard that Ivanov expressed 'pity' for the victim, when they noticed she was crying but was talked out of it by his friend Davtyan. Peter Clement, prosecuting, said: 'Various members of the gang of four watched each other, encouraged each other, and gave a running commentary as to what they had done and what they were going to do to their fellow student. 'They referred to her merely in the abstract as "her" or "she" and in the course of the incident one of the four even has to ask another "What's her name?'' International water polo player Davtyan was holding a party at his dorm at the exclusive college in South London on January 21 this year which the girl attended. She had a shot of whisky at the party before going to a disco at the school. Although there is no concrete evidence her drink was spiked, she felt 'funny, dizzy and peculiar' and was clearly intoxicated before going back to the party and vomiting then falling asleep. The next time she awoke, a man was having sex with her but she was unable to move, the jury heard. She told police: 'I just wanted him to stop, I couldn't wake up, I couldn't stand up, I felt really, really, really tired, I couldn't do anything. I couldn't move my hand... 'I just

Chapter Ten: Research Development wanted to close my eyes, I just wanted to die, I did not consent to it.' Clements added: 'Relatively early on in the footage Mr Ivanov says in Russian "She is crying" but it didn't deter him or any of the others at any point. 'He said "I feel pity for her" but this is only after he and others had had sex with her. 'As she left, Davtyan told her that she should not tell anyone about what had happened because she would be the one who was "embarrassed" and "ashamed" but she ignored his warnings and went to a pal before calling the police. The four men were all unanimously found guilty of rape at Woolwich Crown Court. Despite Simonyan texting Davtyan the next day to tell him to delete the footage which spanned between 12.38am and 3.10am it was still on his iPhone when he was arrested. Only Ivanov received legal aid and the rest of the group were able to pay for their own top QCs. They had denied raping the teen. In the harrowing footage shown to the court, she can be seen barely moving. They said she was a 'sl**' who 'willingly consented' but they were unanimously convicted by a jury of seven men and four women after an eight-week trial. They sat emotionless in the dock as the verdicts against them were read out but a cry was heard from the family members in the public gallery. Davtyan was convicted on two counts of rape, Melnikov was guilty of rape and attempted rape while Ivanov and Simonyan were both convicted of one count of rape. They were remanded in custody until they are sentenced Tuesday.

10.4.2 Two students raped by boyfriends SEGAMAT: Due to deception by their boyfriends, two secondary school students were victims of rape and one of them is now seven months' pregnant. In the first incident on June 16, a 17-year-old student who attends a school in Jalan Muar-Segamat here, claimed that she was raped twice by her boyfriend. A police spokesman said the student is sitting for her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia this year. She had claimed that she was in a relationship with the 19-year-old suspect, who worked at a cleaning company. Her boyfriend had invited her to go on an outing to Segamat but before doing so, he had brought her to his house in Taman Seri Kaya."The victim was suspicious but he gave the excuse that he wanted to change his clothes before going on the trip. The police said the suspect had raped her twice before sending her home. The victim later told her family about the incident before lodging a report at Segamat police headquarters, three days after the incident. In a separate case, a Form Five student is seven months' pregnant after being raped by her boyfriend in November last year. The victim was only 16 during the incident, when she was taken by her boyfriend to a hotel and raped. The suspect, who is from Jabi, allegedly promised to marry her. However, the suspect disappeared but was arrested on July 1. Meanwhile, Segamat police chief Supt Hanafi Daud, when contacted, confirmed the two cases but declined to comment.

10.4.3 Raped student continues studies after delivering KUALA LUMPUR - A 25-year-old university student from Kuala Lumpur, who became pregnant after being raped by a married man, has continued with her studies after giving birth recently, reported China Press. The student said she had befriended the man, who has three children, three years ago and since then, he had always treated her well. 10.4.4 House buyers rob, sexually assault property agent KUALA LUMPUR: A female real estate agent was tied-up, stripped naked and sexually assaulted by a couple who was surveying a condominium with her. The victim, in her 30s, was also beaten up and her Toyota Vios driven off while she was left locked in the condominium unit in Mont Kiara alone for hours. A police source said that the womans husband had noticed that she had not returned from work on Thursday evening and had lodged a missing persons report in Kepong. However, it was not until about 4am Friday that police received a public tip-off about a woman sobbing and pleading for her life. Rushing to the scene, a police team broke through the units door and found the property agent still tied up and without her clothing. She was then sent to hospital for treatment. The victim told policemen that she was showing the suspects, a man and woman, the unit when they had suddenly locked the doors and attacked her. The woman suspect had apparently stood and watched while her male accomplice molested the victim. Weve never heard of such a case and it may be a new modus operandi to target vulnerable lone female property agents. It is really despicable that theyve not only robbed her but also sexually assaulted her, said a police source. The source urged the public, especially female saleswomen, to always be on the alert. When contacted, Kuala Lumpur CID chief Ku Chin Wah denied knowledge of such a case. However, Brickfields district police chief Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid confirmed the incident, but said the case has been taken over by the Kuala Lumpur D11(Sexual Crimes and Child Abuse) Division. This latest case comes at the heels of another missing persons report of 42-year-old female real estate agent last Wednesday, and who was found murdered at the Batu Dam in Ulu Yam yesterday. According to news reports, Cheng Chai Moi had left her house in Jinjang early on Tuesday to meet a client over the sale of a house. Her

10.4.5 Warning to those going to KL: Woman driver almost raped at The Curve A girl's harrowing experience of her kidnap attempt in a car park at The Curve in KL has been making its rounds on Facebook. STOMPer catsy thinks that this story should be a warning to all, that one can never be too vigilant whether you're at home or in foreign land. The STOMPer says: "I happened to be browsing Facebook as usual when I came across this girl's note about her escape from a kidnapping incident at The Curve, Mutiara Damansara in Malaysia. "She explained how she managed to escape from two men, one Malay and the other Indian, from the car park of the shopping mall. "They held a meat cleaver against her throat and the Indian man even started to make sexual advances towards her. "Thankfully, by acting at the right moment, she made her escape. "This really reminds me just how vulnerable we females are, whether at home or in foreign land. "The few pointers she gave, such as how to get into a position of escape, are valuable advice. "Let this be a warning to females travelling alone: it always pays to be extra vigilant and careful when you're on your own, even at a car park!"
