SHELBY COUNTY SCHOOLS 2012-2013 LEARNING COACH QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Learning Coach position is a one-year commitment (July 25, 2012 May 31, 2013) with participants receiving a $2,000.00 stipend upon full completion of all requirements and responsibilities. No partial stipends will be paid. Upon administrative request, Learning Coaches may be asked to relinquish their appointment if not satisfactorily meeting expectations. 5 years effective teaching experience highly recommended Mandatory Attendance - New Teacher Induction July 25-27, 2012 Southwind High School 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Time applied to new teacher contact hours Demonstration Classroom July 27, 2012 Base School 8:00am-12:00pm Time applied to new teacher contact hours Commitment to on-going professional development: (You will accrue more PD hours than required) Attend mandatory summer training: Returning Coaches May 30 or July 17, 2012, 9:00am 10:00am, (enroll in MLP) New Coaches May 30 or July 17, 10:30am 12:30pm, (enroll in MLP) Hours will count toward Choice PD credit requirements Attend 2 one-hour mandatory training sessions during the 2012-2013 school year Tentative Dates: September and January Central Office Auditorium Hours will count toward Choice PD credit requirements Additional training as deemed necessary Complete PD360 Cognitive Coaching learning pathway 9 Segments with reflection questions Regular meetings with PIT Crew Member Teacher Support Hours: 60 documented hours before, during and after school Individual and group interaction 1 Hour mandatory informational meeting with all teachers on caseload - first week of each month Additional meetings as needed to complete Learning Coach responsibilities 1 hour planning per month toward required hours Monthly Documentation: Agenda for each monthly informational meeting Documented support interactions in My Learning Plan Submitted on the 25th of each month to PIT Crew Member Completion of First/Second Semester Reflection Pieces Submitted at the end of each semester to PIT Crew Member Complete and Submit Federal Paperwork: Documented support interactions in My Learning Plan End of Semester Record of Activities Conduct 2 Cognitive Coaching Cycles (1 per semester, additional cycles highly recommended): Pre-Conference, Observation, Post-Conference Submitted at end of each semester to PIT Crew Member Model Effective Best Practices Maintain Confidentiality
