Advanced Digital Photography Spring 2013 Instructor: Lindsay Foster E-mail: lfoster@midpac.

edu Prerequisites: Fundamentals of Digital Media, Intro to Digital Photography Course Requirements: Digital SLR camera, preferably with manual setting option and over 10 megapixels. Course Description: This class is a continued exploration into the world of digital photography from two perspectives - creator and audience. Observation is a key element in honing ones photographic eye. This course will focus on content and form, craft and aesthetic, and an overarching understanding of visual communication. The photograph as object is inherently linked to contradictory poles - truth and fiction. We will maintain a dialogue about the veracity of the photograph throughout the semester. As a result, each of you will be a more advanced, incisive photographer. By the end of the semester each student will have an enhanced understanding of their individual artistic impulse/creative voice and be able to make photographs with the proper technique/craft to most effectively communicate their vision. Unique to this semester we will focus on curation and exhibition. This will provide a framework from which each student will consider the world around him/her as a potential venue for work. As a group we will ask ourselves questions about content, interest and visual readability. We will analyze structure and sequence and as a result, consider the visual architectonics of the frame and patina of imagery.
