PRODUCTION IMPACT TESTING REQUIREMENTS FOR PIPING MATERIALS AS PER TABLE 323.3.1 , Column A.

( Tests on Welds in Fabrication or Assembly) REQUIREMENTS: The requirement of the materials for production impact testing shall be as specified in clause number 323.3.2. A-4: One test coupon is required for each welding procedure, for each type of filler metal and for each flux to be used. The test coupon shall be subjected to essentially the same heat treatment as the erected piping will have received (if applicable). A-5 (a): Production test coupon thickness T shall be valid for the range of T/2 to T+6.4mm. A-5 (b): Unless required by the engineering design, weld pieces need not to be made from each lot, nor from material for each job provided that welds have made and tested as per above clause A-4. In other words, unless required by the engineering design, if the supported PQR for the applicable WPS for the production (shall be limited to T/2 to T+6.4mm) is impact tested and meeting the above wall thickness range, then production test coupon not required. Production test coupon shall be tested on the same P number and Group number of the type and grade of the material. Impact test shall be tested at the MDMT for the location of weld metal and HAZ. Impact test results shall meet the requirements of ASME B 31.3, Chapter III. Tests shall be carried out by the fabricator or erector.
