Web. 5 Jan. 2013 <http://www.historytoday.com/maurice-cranston/french-revolution-ideasand-ideologies>. This site provided information on most of the philosopher and their contributions to the French Revolution. Each man added considerable knowledge that help gain and grow the support of the revolts. Declaration of the Rights of Man - 1789 <http://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/rightsof.asp>. This is the First Constitution of France that limits the power of the monarchy or others in charge. With its creation the people gain many freedoms and liberties including the natural rights of life, liberty and property. This was the first step in the creation of the French Republic. Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen from the Constitution of the Year I (1793) <http://chnm.gmu.edu/revolution/d/297/>. Established the right that are to be aknowledeged and followed by the monarchy of head of government with additions from the first document of 1789. Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen from the Constitution of the Year III (1795) <http://chnm.gmu.edu/revolution/d/298/>. Addresses the same liberties and freedoms as before in 1789 and 1793 but adds even more right that are to be made aware of. The French discover new and more rights that they must protect as their republic unfolds. Montesquieus "The Spirit of the Law" <http://chnm.gmu.edu/revolution/d/274/>. Form Spirit of the Law I learned that Montesquieu believed in sharing the sovereignty. He wanted the king, nobles, clergy, and peasants to work together and govern collectively. He was considered one of the greatest philosophers because he challenged the right of the monarchy to solely rule. HE also believed in the natural rights. Paine, Thomas. The Rights of Man. Rights of Man (2009):1. History Reference Center. Web. 5 Jan. 2013 This document explains with great detail Thomas Paines opinion and support for the revolution. Paine tells how the people should create a modern government that sees their protection and right, not to be under rule of a system established by dead

people along time ago. Rousseau's "The Social Contract" <http://chnm.gmu.edu/revolution/d/275/>. Rousseau argues that the people should be under laws enacted by them themselves, not laws passed long ago by dead people. People are free to do as they like and make their own laws. His theories helped cause political reforms throughout Europe. The Civil Constitution of the Clergy (1790) 20 Jan. 2013. <http://history.hanover.edu/courses/excerpts/111civil.html>. This document created by the National Assembly limited the power of the Clergy by forcing them to swear an oath of allegiance to the France before the Catholic religion. Obviously many refused and were done away with leading to the removal of Catholicism as the official religion. The old regime was torn down completely. Secondary Sources French Revolution Timeline. Web. 17 Jan. 2013 <http://condor.depaul.edu/sjost/gph205/artist-reports/french-rev.htm>. This site has a time line form the French Revolution which helped me create mine with extensive detail. Many dates of important events during the revolution are in there. French Revolution Timeline. Web. 17 Jan. 2013 <http://faculty.unlu.edu/gbrown/hist462/resources/chrono.htm#1799>. This site too has a timeline which I also used to extract dates that I felt were important to the revolution. With the help of both sites I created a more accurate timeline. French Revolution. Encyclopedia Britannica. Encyclopedia Britannica Online. Encyclopedia Britannica Inc., 2013. Web. 6 Jan. 2013 <http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/219315/French-Revolution>. The Encyclopedia Britannica was one of my most helpful sites. From it I learned a vast majority form the history of how it began to the people involved to the Napoleonic empire. It gave me a vast and broad area of knowledge. From here I looked up more information on specific subjects. French Revolution. French Revolution. Web. 3 Jan. 2013 <http://faculty.ucc.edu/egh-damerow/french_revolution.htm>.

Here more information on the history of the revolution was given along with how it came to arise. The Enlightenment is described how it came to greatly effect and be a driving force for the continual support of the revolution. Liberty, Equality, Fraternity: Exploring The French Revolution. Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media (George Mason University) and American Social History Project (City University of New York). Web. 5 Jan. 2013 <http://chnm.gmu.edu/revolution/>. This was a great website because it took me through the entire revolution through its beginning to its end. It explained how and why France and the monarch had a revolution and the steps that occurred. The site was broken down very easily to maneuver. The social changes, reason for the collapse of the monarchy, rise of the republic, the enlightenment and fall of the monarchy we all explained thoroughly. Badertscher, Eric. "Napoleon Bonaparte." Napoleon (2009): 1-4. History Reference Center. Web. 5 Jan. 2013. This was used to get a close insight of Napoleons biography and how he came to power. With his military leadership he became emperor and rule continental Europe. Colombia University, Press. King of France Louis XVI. Colombia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th Ed. (2011): 1. History Reference Center. Web. 5 Jan. 2013 I used this to acquire knowledge on Louis XVIs life, how he came to power, reign, fell and ultimately guillotined. I learned that he was not a very successful, powerful nor popular monarchy and because of his refusal to compromise with the citizens of France cause a great revolution that led to his end. Harris, Ian, Edmund Burke, The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy (Spring 2012 Ed.) Edward N. Zalta (ed.), <http://plato.stanford.edu/archives/spr2012/entries/burke/>. In the Encyclopedia of Philosophy I learned of Edmund Burkes background and his ideas in philosophy. He played a crucial role during the revolution, especially when he criticized it and Paine attacked back supporting the revolution. Khan, Ubaid. Denis Diderot. 05 Jan. 2013 <http://users.cis.fiu.edu/~ukhan01/writings/Diderot_Enlightenment.htm>. Denis Diderot was also a major playing role in the Enlightenment and helping the cause of the French people. In his Encyclopedia he combined knowledge from many different backgrounds including the beliefs of constitutional monarchy and the rights of life, liberty, and property.
