As part of our ancillary task to produce a double page spread article advertising our documentary, we had to carefully decide in which magazine to feature it. Several areas were considered in the process such as:
Sports Coverage:
The fact that the Radio Times magazine features a sports section, ties in very conveniently with the topic of documentary and article. We may be able to have the article featured towards the sports section, allowing it to tie in with the content of the TV listings as well as the sport area.
Target Audience:
The Radio Times target audience is very broad with regards to the gender and age, so it would be almost guaranteed that our article would be quite evenly advertised. Combined with the popularity and high readership that the magazine has, we can be certain that our article is read amongst as many as possible.
Readability:
The simplicity of the design and layout for this particular TV listings magazine makes it perfect for our article. This is because our article is not designed to be over the top, but rather a small insight into whats to come in the documentary. The conventions of a simple contents page and labelled pages make it effortless to find the article and so there shouldnt be a problem in reaching our readers.
