Saratoga
In 1777 the battle of Saratoga took place in New York. General Burgoynes role was to move down from Canada. General Howes role was to move north to the Hudson river. The British plan of attack was to move down from Canada and move north to the Hudson river from the generals were. If that happened the Americans would be surrounded and its hard to get out and win when there are tons and tons of people just standing so you dont have anywhere to go.The
British plan was not successful because general Burgoyne sent a message to start closing in on the Americans but general Howe did not get the message in time so Burgoyne was there and it is easier for the Americans to ght one army than to ght Burgoynes and Howes but Howe came latter on because of the message delay. It was a general mix up they all were mad at each other which brought hopes down in British and the continental army kept English soldiers as prisoners.

! In 1778 the battle of valley forge took place in Pennsylvania. General Washington had to get his troops through the rough winter at valley forge. Baron Von Steuben introduced helpful drilling techniques that helped the military. Helps in military supply. This helped the continental army have a solid core. The weather was bad for the continental army they did not have as many layers to keep warm and that meant that there were many diseases going around and that was very costly. It made them much more tough for the things that are in the future they will also be more brave when ever if the same thing happen.

Yorktown
In 1781 the battle of Yorktown took place in Virginia. A French fleet under the command of Comte de Grasse arrived with supplies, weapons, and troops. The combined American and French forces numbered 16,000 men while the British defenders were only 7,500. Comte de Grasses fleet sealed off Yorktown Harbor to prevent the arrival of British reinforcements by sea.Washington and his men advanced into the outer ring of defense works,
which the British then hastily (and unnecessarily) abandoned which put them a better position for the things later on. Cornwallis attempted to cross York
River but a storm held them back so Cornwallis did not know where to go and he had to surrender. The battle of Yorktown forced Britain to negotiate a piece
Treaty on Acceptable terms.
