The Battle of T renton

The Battle of Trenton took place in the fall of 1776. It went all the way across New York and into New Jersey. General George Washington was in trouble. He had an army of less then 6,000 men. How could he get more people on his side? He could win a battle, but how? Maybe he could plan a surprise attack! While the British army was still tired from their Christmas celebration the night before, the continental army attacked and quickly won the battle. Washingtons plan worked out. Not only did more people sign up, but the people who were already there stayed longer. Even though they were proud that they won their first battle, they were nervous for the next one. But in the end, Washington had showed them that not only could they win the war, but that they were a team. Even though the colonist were tired, they were just as proud. Yorktown

In Virginia on September 28, 1781, the Continental Army had 3 things- France, numbers and confidence. With George Washington leading the Continental Army and Cornwallis leading the British, we had France on our side. France not only gave us more people, but they gave us confidence. The battle of Yorktown was the last battle in the American Revolution, which officially proved the colonist had won.

The Treaty of Paris said Britain would give America their land back, and that not a single British troop would be on on American soil, but they needed the time to get out. As soon as they signed the treaty, the war was over and they were ready to start a new country. They needed to find food, build a shelter, get more land, and most importantly, survive in America.
