Integrated Algebra
Introduction
Integrated Algebra is a Regents examination with which all students are mandated to take and pass in order to graduate high school. It is my personal goal that all students in this class will do very well on the Integrated Algebra Regents in June! I am personally excited and optimistic about this year. Although challenges do lie ahead, I firmly believe that all of my students are capable of tackling on such challenges. However, it is up to you to do what is expected from you and for us to work as a team, to learn and to listen from one another. This document details such expectations.

Grading Breakdown
Your final grades will be based on the following: Tests and Quizzes Classwork, Notebook and Participation Homework 70% 15% 15%

Tests & Quizzes 70% There will be between 4-6 exams + quizzes each term. All exams will be cumulative. The fall term will end in a final exam and the spring term will end with the Integrated Algebra Regents. These exams will count in your average. Cheating of any kind is not tolerated. Any student(s) caught cheating will automatically receive a zero for the quiz/test and will be reported to administration to face further consequences. Cheating is constituted of: (1) use of unauthorized cheat sheets, etc. during an exam, (2) speaking with the person seated next to you, and (3) looking at the test of the person seated next to you. Classwork, Notebook and Participation 25% One of the main rules in this class is to maintain an active notebookeverything that goes on the board goes in your notes. If properly maintained, your notebook could very well be the most valuable resource/study guide you may have in preparation for a major exam. You are expected to attend class on time and ready to listen to the teacher and to complete your assigned work. I will check your work during class on a daily basis, beginning with your Do Now, in order to ensure that you are participating with the classroom activities. By being prepared for class, maintaining an active notebook, completing your Do Now, and behaving for the remainder of class, you will earn 1 point towards your class participation grade. Failure to do any of these will result in a 1-point deduction from your class participation grade. Homework 15% Homework will be assigned every day. Place your homework on your desk as soon as you take your seat, ready to be checked at the beginning of class. Homework will be graded based on completion and effort, not correctness of answers.

If you missed class, it is your responsibility to make up the work you missed. Late homework will not be accepted without a note from your parent!

Class Rules
All students are expected to adhere to the following class rules. Failure to follow these rules consistently will lead to the appropriate disciplinary action. Come to class prepared and on time. Three unexcused latenesses will result in an automatic 2-point deduction from your average. Raise your hands and wait to be called upon before you speak. Maintain an active notebook. Stay on your seats unless otherwise instructed. Respect our classroom community. (yourself, your teacher, your classmates and your classroom) One person out of the room at a time. Stay seated until I dismiss you.

Classroom Procedures
You will enter the classroom quietly, proceed immediately to your seat and promptly begin with the Do Now exercise. Homework will be assigned and checked every day in class. Full credit for the homework assignment entails that you have attempted each and every problem assigned! Every class will have an agenda displayed. Smooth transitions between activities occur when we refrain from off-topic discussions. When the teacher speaks, the students must listen. If you have any questions regarding the lesson, please raise your hand and show your concern. When classmates speak we will listen and show respect to them. You are encouraged to participate in class discussions.
