Initial Research Task Part 1 1.

Corporate and promotional programme production is the creation of moving image pieces, and covers corporate information productions, training programmes, and music promotions. A corporate video is often intended for a specific purpose in a corporate environment and viewed only by a limited or targeted audience. This may include product, service or company promotional videos, training videos and information videos. They can be shown through show reels, DVDs, and videos. Many corporate video productions are for internal use only, whereas, corporate and promotional videos are for public viewing in order to increase awareness and boost sales/profit and interest. Promotional programme production is not only used to promote corporations, but also services and products. How this differs from an advert is that promo videos are specifically made for a niche audience such as employees and clients, whereas adverts have a mass audience. 2. Social action and community media production (SACM) are productions that are created around a particular issues or subject. It can create a mass impact on the public. This can be shown through many expressions such as, their actions, attitudes and behaviour. This can bring about local, national or global change. It can be produced by using many materials such as moving image, print, radio, and online content. SACM can be intended for a mass audience as they want to raise awareness of a specific matter/issue. Community media is about a service to a community, combined by a group of people and their help, whereas, social action is designed to engage with a wide range of people in specific ways. For instance, to change the way in which an issue is seen, to promote a cause, to challenge dominant ideologies or to instigate charitable giving. An example of community media can be shown through raising awareness and getting the publics attention to either help save a specific matter or stop an issue happening within their local community.

Part 2 For this project I have the choice of creating either a corporate and promotional production or a social action and community media production (SACM). SACM revolves around social and community issues which can help raise awareness and either help begin or stop a project/event happening. This can bring about change through either a small community group or a mass audience. It can be shown through many materials such as, prints, moving image, exhibitions, and community projects. With my understanding of this I am able to know how to go about creating this project through researching existing material. Corporate and promotional production is the creation of moving image pieces. It can cover a range of materials from; covering corporate information productions, training programmes, music promotions and much more. Each one has a purpose and function as they help train employees, give information, and help promote a service/product. Researching into both areas will help inform me of which to choose from to focus my final major project on. By having a full understanding of each area will help me decide on which one to choose through the content of each one and whether I am motivated and able to create and manage. Without researching into these areas I would not have known what one to choose and what would be best for me personally to produce. By researching into them I have a full understanding of them and know what is involved.
