The postal sector has continued its transformation in 2011.

Our statistics for 2011 indicate that the postal infrastructure worldwide has expanded, but total revenues have declined by -3% compared to 2010. The letter post business still generates the bulk of revenue, however, global letter volumes have shrunk by an estimated 3.7%. In contrast, the number of parcels has grown by 2.1%. More and more postal operators are embracing new technologies with 80% of them offering various online internet services. Finally, it has to be noted that there is still a striking discrepancy between countries and regions.
