edu The purpose of this form is to provide students and parents with information about my professional background and the school counseling services that I offer. Statement of Services I practice as a professional school counselor with a goal to address the academic, personal/social and career development needs of all students. In accordance to the American School Counselor Association and the state of Oregons Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Framework my obligations are to advocate, lead, collaborate, and consult in order to create access and success for educational opportunities for all students. I am available to provide services with students, parents, staff, and community members/agencies to effectively meet the needs of young people through collaborative efforts. I serve students through short-term individual counseling, small group counseling, classroom guidance, and program development. Through goal setting, structured interventions and coping skills development, students are equipped with the necessary tools they need to have a more successful and fulfilling school experience. I practice a blend of theoretical approaches, as I believe in matching theoretical styles to the needs of each student. Because the Portland Public School District employs me there are no fees for my services. Ethical Standards and Confidentiality I prefer to keep confidentiality as much as possible in order for the therapeutic counseling process to be the most effective; however, I am required by law to report: Threat of harm to another person or self, suspected child or elder abuse or neglect, or by court order. Education/Work Experience I received a Master of Arts degree in School Counseling and my Graduate Certificate in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling at Portland State University in 2013. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child and Family Studies with a minor in Youth Work from Portland State University in 2010. I am currently a school counselor at your school providing professional counseling services since 2013.
