Research mental illnesses to relate the text to outside sources Further analyze the character Holden and diagnose him

iPads Questions on the board Projector

Activities

Bell ringer o Whats wrong with Holden? o Write on a sticky note / piece of paper for 2 pts Introduction o Objectives - research mental illnesses and then diagnose Holden o Expectations - giving you class time so everyone can finish. Due at the end of the hour Project questions (or write them on the board) o Explain questions briefly o Assignment: have students turn in a sheet of paper individually answering the questions Groups o Have them split up into groups of two o When they have their group, bring an ipad over. (when you have ipad start) Homework for the weekend -- read chapter 13-15. Quiz over chapters 11-15

Define mental illness. Identify and define most common (each) cases of mental illnesses.

* dont show* (pyschosis, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, etc) What are the diagnoses? Descriptions? Behaviors? (of each illness) What are the treatments available today for each illness? So far, how would you diagnose Holden and why?
