Installation of a WinFab Tuning ECU Chip Kit (92-95 OBD-I Honda ECU*)

This is specifically for JDM Small Case ECUs

P08, P70, P30, P72

Thank You for purchasing the kit. The following basic equipment will be necessary:
1) Soldering Iron – to desolder and solder components in/out.
2) Solder – to solder components in.
3) Solder wick or Soldering Pump – to remove solder from the ECU.
2) Flux – to help to drive the solder without sticking
Please read this manual before proceeding.
If there are any questions, email us at winfabtuning@gmail.com

1. First, remove your ECU from the car (on the Civic and Integra it is located on the passenger side,
behind the plastic kick panel).
2. Next remove the top and bottom metal panels from the ECU.
3. The AT JDM ECU has a Stock ROM a 28 pin chip with the marking M27256. Please
remove it, using the either solder wick or pump method from the ECU. As for the MT JDM
ECU there is blank space on the same location marking 27256. Here you just remove the
solder from the pin holes.
4. Once the above is done, insert and solder the 28 pin socket. (For Auto ECU this is all, just
plug in the chip and go and try it out!)
5. On the M/T ECUs you will need to add the other parts to chip the ECU. The first item is a
SOP-20 small outline 74HC373 20 pin chip. Remove any solder in this location. Also
when soldering, do it in one smooth move. Make sure you don't overheat this small chip
and make sure you have Pin 1 in the right position. The notch or hole in the chip will be
facing towards the capacitor marked C43.
6. Using the solder wick or pump, remove any solder present on the J1, this is located on the back
side of the ECU. (Figure 1). Solder in a jumper wire.

7. Components required for install will be – (Figure 2)

8. Once all is done, replace both covers. Now it is ready to be tested. If the vehicle starts and NO
CEL/Check Engine codes appear, then you finished the job well.

Note:
If the ECU needs to be returned to stock form please cut the J1 wire.
If the components are already in the ECU, only the 28 pin chip will be removed and 28 pin socket
soldered in to accept the new racing chip.
At times it is easier to work on the ECU when it is fully out of the metal cover.
Please be careful when working since static can damage parts on the ECU. Grounding yourself or
working area is a good habit.
