This source describes in great detail, the Nuclear Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The bomb killed a devastating 66,000 people and injured over 69,000 people. The atomic bombs were able to destroy each city and radiate all surrounding land. The essay talks about the new technology the atomic bomb used. They named the two atomic bombs the fat man and the little boy. The atomic bomb was developed in the Manhattan project. This source helps my topic because it explains the technology used to create the atomic bomb and the effects it had on the people who were involved in the nuclear blast the bomb created. This source is a government document describing the atomic bomb and how big of an effect it will have. It talks about dates and when they dropped the bombs and things like that. It shows the plan for dropping the bomb and what exactly it will do. It has a bunch of signatures on it of government people though I cant read them. This source helps my topic because it helped me understand how much planning and secrecy went into the nuclear bombing of Japan. The document says top secret on it

showing me that they didnt want anyone else to know when and where this was going to happen. They had a careful step by step process they were using to do this project with.

It had an eye witness account to talk about the day the atomic bomb was dropped. The man describes all of the injured people going into the church looking for help. There were dead and wounded people everywhere and then radiation poisoning took effect and killed many more. This eye witness account helped me better understand my topic because I know what it was like for the people involved in the nuclear explosion. The man talks about his feelings of using the atomic bomb. He questioned the tactic you have to end lives to save lives. I learnt that many people really suffered and thousands were left homeless. This source is filled with many different documents about the atomic bomb. It talks about the necessity to quickly end the war so many more people didnt die. They really did not want to use nuclear weapons but they felt like they had no other choice. The documents talk about how they came to the decision to drop the weapons of mass destruction on thousands of civilians they said they had to make an example so they could put a stop to the war.

This source helped me understand my topic better because it gives me the views and the reasons the government had to make to drop the atomic bomb. It was a very hard risky decision but it did put an end to World War 2 and put a stop to the fighting and killing. Secondary sources

J. Robert Oppenheimer made a short speech and it became very famous. In his speech he states that he has become death the destroyer of worlds. He makes this short speech with regret. He helped make a weapon capable of killing hundreds of thousands of people in mere seconds. He made a weapon of death and destruction and he doesnt feel good knowing that he did. This primary source helps me understand the mindset of the people who created it reacted when the bomb became a huge success.

This source helps answer my topic on the atomic bomb because I learned a lot about the after effects of the atomic bomb and what other people did to help the survivors.

This website has several eye witness accounts from people who witnessed the atomic bomb being dropped. This helps me understand my topic more by being able to see what other people saw when the atomic bomb was dropped.

This book helps me understand my topic more because the book contains loads of information on the Atomic bomb and how it affected the world.
