General information about offices of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks Registration
Intellectual Property India comes under ministry of commerce and industry, department of industrial policy and promotion. The aim and objective of IPI is to protect rights of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks of commercial use world wide. The head office of IPI is at Kolkata and its Branch offices are located at Chennai, New Delhi and Mumbai. The Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM) is located at Mumbai. Trade mark which we observe on any brand is that small Tm or R (under cirlcle) registered at trademark office located at Mumbai and its Branches are located in Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad and New Delhi.

Patent Agent 2013 examination official notification


The Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM) announce the Patent Agent Examination, 2013. The recruitment process of Patent Agent followed by written examination and viva voice. The Post of Patent Agent is group B and having salary range of 30,000 - 40,000/- Rupees. Any candidates having qualification of science graduate (Engineering, Pharmacy, Technology) above the age of 21 year's can apply.

Important dates of patent agent 2013 examination


1. Online application starts :- 11 February 2013 2. Last date of online application :- 11 March 2013 3. Written Examination Paper I :- 4 May 2013 (10:00 AM - 1:30 PM) 3. Written Examination Paper II :- 4 May 2013 (02:30 PM - 05:30 PM) 4. Viva Voice :- 5 May 2013

How to apply (register) online for patent agent 2013 examination
Before proceeding to online registration keep needed documents ready like Mark sheets, Photo Scan, Signature Scan, etc. To appear Patent Agent 2013 Examination eligible candidates have to register online at https://ipindiaservices.gov.in/agent_exam/ Here you will found guidelines how to register and what care to be done please go through it. After that select "Register (New Applicant)" and fill email address and mobile number correctly. Note down the passwords and user ID for further use.

Syllabus and pattern of question papers of patent agent 2013 examination


1. Paper I (Patents Act and Rules) will consist of two parts, i.e. Part A and B. a. Part A will consist of two parts, i.e. part A1 and A2 and all questions will be compulsory. i. Part A1, of 30 marks, will have 15 multiple choice questions of two marks each. Each question will have a maximum of six choices and a maximum of two correct choices. ii. Part A2, of 10 marks, will have 10 true / false type questions of one mark each. b. Part B will consist of 8 subjective type questions and the candidates will be required to attempt any 6 out of the 8 questions.

2. Paper-II (Drafting and interpretation of the patent specification and other documents) will consist of two parts, i.e. Part A and B. a. Part-A, of 40 marks, will consist of 6 questions of 10 marks each and the candidate will be required to attempt any 4 questions. The questions will relate to drafting and interpretation of patent specifications and other documents required to be submitted under the Act and Rules. b. Part-B, of 60 marks, will consist of parts B1 and B2. i. Part B1 will be compulsory and will consist of 1 question relating to drafting of claims and abstract from a given description of an invention. ii. Part B2 will consist of 2 questions and the candidates will be required to attempt any 1 question. Out of the two questions, one question will relate to general engineering and the other question will relate to field of chemistry/life sciences.
