FILIPINOS: PACIFIC ISLANDERS OR ASIANS? One of the arguments raised when people talk about Filipinos is that if theyre considered to be Asians or Pacific Islanders. Based from different points and reasons I have read, I think that Filipinos are Asians. Its not about how small your eyes are, how much rice you eat, or how high your IQ is to be considered an Asian. Being Asian is geographical term. Philippines is considered to be part of the South-East Asian region. Thus making us, Filipinos, categorized as Asians. They are not also pacific islanders because even though we are in the border of the Pacific Ocean, our culture came from Asian influences and none of the Pacific Culture.
