The following pages contain questions that I wrote up in late 1974 and early 1975, when I was 19,

before I flew from Chicago to Switzerland to meet Francis Schaeffer. Schaeffer had founded a sort of Christian commune called LAbri (the shelter), up in the French Swiss Alps, and had published several books on Christian apologetics, including particularly True Spirituality. Apologetics is the branch of religious study that answers the questions of doubters, and I was in the process of becoming one of those. I havent read back through the following questions. Brief glances suggest that some of them may not make much sense to people who are not familiar with True Spirituality. I offer them here, not primarily for their content, but rather to illustrate a bit of what it might be like (at least for a philosophically oriented fundamentalist) to struggle with seeming contradictions and other difficulties, both in the Bible itself and in various ways that people talk about it.
