a. Was very popular/reopened theaters/taverns in the likeness of Louis XIV
b. Re-Established the Church and tolerated other religions

II. James II is forced to Flee
a. Practiced Catholic faith openly
b. Angered people by throwing out laws on whim and his appointment of friends
c. Parliament invites James protestant daughter, Mary and husband, William to rule country.
d. They land with army in 1688, James flees, and a bloodless overthrow occurs. Known as the
Glorious Revolution.
